Teacher of Cello
We are looking for an accomplished and inspiring Cello Teacher to join the RGS String Scheme on a self employed basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a musician and educator to shape the development of state primary school children from beginners aged 8 to 9 years within a supportive and creatively ambitious environment. You will bring a wealth of teaching experience, deep musicianship, and a genuine passion for nurturing talent.
The RGS String Scheme, which originated ten years ago at RGS Prep, now reaches about 250 children per week across three primary schools:
-
200 Year 4 pupils receiving weekly tuition across three maintained primaries
-
40 pupils continuing into string orchestra in Years 5 and 6 (projected to grow to 90)
The scheme has grown through partnerships with sponsors, covering instrument purchase and tuition costs. Between 15–20% of pupils who complete the scheme choose to continue lessons privately.
