ROLEPURPOSE

To deliver safe, engaging and high-quality swimming lessons that build confidence, develop aquatic skills and promote lifelong participation. The Swimming Teacher delivers lessons in line with the Swim England Learn to Swim Framework, supports learner progression, promotes water safety and creates an inclusive learning environment.

Monitor, assess and record learner progress.

Support learner progression and maintain confidential records in line with data protection requirements.

Promote water safety awareness throughout all lessons.

Maintain effective supervision of participants at all times.

Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed and concerns are reported appropriately.

KeyAccountabilities

Deliver lessons in accordance with the Normal Operating Procedure (NOP), Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and Hyndburn Leisure policies.

Carry out equipment checks and ensure teaching equipment is safe, clean and fit for purpose.

Report accidents, incidents, hazards and equipment defects promptly.

Support the safe preparation and storage of teaching equipment.

Maintain accurate attendance and learner records using approved management systems.

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Learn to Swim programme.

Support promotional events, assessments and swimming development initiatives.

Maintain professional knowledge through ongoing training and continuous professional development

SKILLS&EXPERIENCE

Essential

Experience delivering swimming lessons to children and/or adults.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit different ages, abilities and learning styles.

Good organisational skills and the ability to manage class registers and learner records.

Ability to build positive relationships with swimmers and parents.

2 Commitment to delivering excellent customer service.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings and weekends.

Desirable

Experience delivering the Swim England Learn to Swim Programme.

Experience teaching school swimming.

Experience supporting swimmers with additional needs.

Experience using CoursePro or similar lesson management software.

Experience supporting promotional events or aquatic programmes.

QUALIFICATIONS/ CREDENTIALS

Essential

Swim England Level 2 Swimming Teacher Qualification (or equivalent recognised qualification).

Current Swim England Safeguarding qualification (or willingness to maintain).

Enhanced DBS check.

Desirable

Current NRASTC, NRASTC Light or equivalent recognised rescue qualification

Swim England Level 2 Award in Teaching Pre-School Swimming.

Emergency First Aid at Work qualification

Additional aquatic teaching qualifications.

Continuous Professional Development relevant to aquatics.
