JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title Sustainability Tutor Department Job Reference Quality SS Tutor Reports to Location Salary Flexibility Contractual status Role summary Key responsibilities SEND, Inclusion and Education Delivery Manager Launceston £33,810 pro rata (£41,860 FTE) 35 hours over 5 days per week Full-time, fixed-term, 42 weeks until July 2027. This role is offered on a fixed-term basis aligned to the academic year and learner recruitment. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Sustainability Tutor to join our delivery team, to deliver our new ‘Step into Sustainability’ study programme. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of sustainability and recent experience working with young people with a range of educational needs. You should be able to evidence a strong link to or recent experience of sustainability/environmental and/or land-based practices. The role involves delivering a tailored and inclusive sustainability curriculum that supports the personal development, wellbeing, and life skills of learners, ensuring they have the tools and confidence to navigate adulthood. These key responsibilities are neither a comprehensive nor exhaustive list, and the duties may be varied from time to time by your line manager or Executive Director. 1 Curriculum Delivery Develop, plan, and deliver engaging and accessible sustainability lessons that cater to the diverse and individual needs of learners, focusing on personal development, emotional well-being, relationships, life skills, health education, and financial literacy. To contribute to the preparation of course materials and ensure that all learning equipment is in good order and available for the delivery of lessons. To carry out administrative tasks related to courses and attend meetings as required by the SEND, Inclusion and Education Delivery Manager Individualised Support Assess and understand the unique needs of each learner, tailoring sessions and activities to ensure meaningful engagement and success across the vocational and core subjects. Work closely with delivery colleagues, to design a learner-centred learning experience that empowers learners to take ownership of their learning, ambition s and future. Have a good understanding of adaptive teaching practices. Personal Development & Well-Being Support learners in developing a range of life skills, including self-awareness, communication, decision- making, and problem-solving, to foster their independence and confidence. Support the reflective and restorative culture taking into account the personal, social and emotional needs of learners. To 2 develop and enhance expertise in supporting learners from all backgrounds, including those with complex social, emotional and mental health needs by attending training as required. Tracking and Reporting Progress Monitor and track learner progress in PSHE, providing feedback to learners, parents/carers, and other professionals. Maintain a practical understanding of service standards and Quality Improvement initiatives relevant to the curriculum area and work to these standards, engaging in personal and professional development as appropriate. Promote Positive Behaviour Foster a positive learning environment by encouraging good behaviour, mutual respect, and a growth mindset in all learners. Ensure that individual behaviour strategies are incorporated into all planning for teaching and learning, are rigorously monitored and evaluated and appropriately changed when required. Continuous Professional Development Contribute to the culture of continuous professional development for educational support staff, where learning and development activity is closely linked to individual, team and organisational priorities. Engage in ongoing training and professional development to keep up to date with best practices, new teaching methods, and SEND, including adaptive teaching, play- based learning and contextualised programmes. 3 Measure of success Continued professional development Personal Development & Qualifications Success in this role will be measured by the effective delivery of key priorities, objectives, and targets set by the organisation. This includes achieving established performance metrix, such as positive attendance, achievement rates and progression, demonstrating consistent improvement in processes, and contributing to the overall mission of Step into Learning. Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to promote positive relationships with learners and stakeholders, enhance the quality-of-service delivery, and actively participate in initiatives that drive organisational growth and development.
