Our vision is for the UK to be the best place in the world for people with a learning disability to live happy and healthy lives.
At Mencap, we support people with a learning disability, their families, and their carers. We work to create a kinder, fairer, and more inclusive society, where people with a learning disability are valued, heard, and supported to live the lives they choose.
Everyone at Mencap plays a role in supporting people with a learning disability — whether by providing direct support, offering advice, or working together as colleagues behind the scenes.
Belonging at Mencap
Belonging at Mencap is for everyone, every day, everywhere.
- Everyone is expected to treat others with respect and help make Mencap an inclusive organisation
- Every day, we grow and learn — it’s okay to make mistakes, as long as we learn from them and make positive changes
- Everywhere, people should feel respected, valued, and safe to be themselves
We also have Belonging Network Groups that meet online and are open to all colleagues. These networks support and represent people who identify as Black and Asian, LGBTQIA+, disabled or living with a long‑term health condition, women, parents and carers, as well as their allies.
