Job Description

We are looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic Weekend Support Worker (15 hours a week) to join our supported living and lifelong learning services in Buckinghamshire.

At MacIntyre, we believe in supporting people in a way that makes sense to them — helping people live as independently, confidently and joyfully as possible. You don’t need previous experience in care to join us; if you are kind, a great communicator and genuinely passionate about making a positive difference, we’ll provide you with a full training package and ongoing support to help you thrive.

You will be supporting three incredible young men who have lived together since 2014. They lead active, fulfilling lives and enjoy making the most of every weekend — whether that’s cycling, swimming, bowling, going to the cinema, enjoying holidays or simply getting out and about in the community. No two days are ever the same, and if you enjoy being active and spending time with people, this could be the perfect role for you.

The people we support are non-verbal, so you’ll learn how to communicate using visual tools, verbal prompts and by understanding each individual’s unique way of expressing themselves. Often, the smallest moments can have the biggest impact — a smile, relaxed body language or excited reaction can tell you everything you need to know.

As a Weekend Support Worker, you will provide support with:

  • Going to the bathroom, getting ready
  • Medication administration
  • Managing finances
  • Maintaining relationships with family and friends
  • Accessing hobbies and activities
  • Developing independence and life skills

Most importantly, you’ll become someone trusted and valued in their lives — a supporter, encourager, companion and advocate.

This role is for 15 hours per weekend, and flexibility to work across weekends, including evenings, is important to ensure consistent, high-quality support for the people we support.

Imagine needing a little extra support to live the life you choose in your own home — that’s where you come in. At MacIntyre, you can, empower people to live life their way, with dignity, choice and opportunities every day.

"Please note, we are currently unable to offer sponsorships as we await further guidance from the Home Office. Applications requiring sponsorship cannot be considered at this time. We appreciate your understanding.
