Job Description
Waking Nights Support Worker – Empowering People with Autism and Learning Disabilities
12-Hour Waking Night Shifts
Are you passionate about making a real difference in someone's life?
This is an exciting opportunity to support a gentleman who has recently moved from a long-stay hospital into his own home, beginning a new chapter built around independence, choice, and living life on his own terms. You will join a small, dedicated team providing overnight support to two gentlemen living in separate apartments within the same building.
At MacIntyre, we believe in seeing the person, not the label. Guided by our DNA and values, you'll play an important role in ensuring people feel safe, respected, and supported to live the life they choose.
About the Role
As a Waking Nights Support Worker, you will provide active overnight support, promoting wellbeing, safety, and positive outcomes throughout the night. Using an individualised, person-centred approach, you will:
- Provide attentive and responsive overnight support tailored to each person's unique needs, preferences, and routines.
- Promote a calm, safe, and reassuring environment that supports quality sleep and emotional wellbeing.
- Support people with any overnight needs while maintaining their dignity, choice, and independence.
- Complete relevant monitoring, recording, and handovers to ensure continuity of support across the team.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver consistent, high-quality support that reflects each person's goals and aspirations.
- Contribute to a positive and enabling environment where people are valued, listened to, and supported to flourish.
About You
We're looking for people who are:
- Compassionate, patient, and committed to seeing the potential in every person.
- Calm, observant, and confident in responding to changing situations during the night.
- Passionate about delivering person-centred support that respects individuality, rights, and choice.
- Reliable team players who communicate effectively and contribute positively to a supportive team culture.
- Resilient, proactive, and able to work independently while knowing when to seek support.
Previous experience is welcome but not essential. What matters most is your values, attitude, and commitment to supporting people to live meaningful lives.
A driving licence is not required; however, you must be able to travel reliably to and from the service for waking night shifts.
"Please note, we are currently unable to offer sponsorship as we await further guidance from the Home Office. Applications requiring sponsorship cannot be considered at this time. We appreciate your understanding."
