Job Description

Help Someone Like Sarah* Live a Glorious Ordinary Life

At MacIntyre, we know that the little things matter.

A trip to the swimming pool. Lunch with friends. A favourite song playing in the car. A smile from someone who knows you well.

We're looking for a caring and enthusiastic Support Worker to join our team and support people with learning and physical disabilities to live lives that are full of the people, places and experiences that matter most to them.

Could You Support Someone Like Sarah?

Sarah* loves being out and about. Whether she's heading to the swimming pool, exploring her local community, enjoying a day out, or spending time with people she knows and trusts, she thrives when she's surrounded by warmth, fun and meaningful connections.

Like many of the people we support, Sarah communicates in her own unique way. By spending time together, being curious and listening beyond words, you'll learn what makes her smile, what she enjoys, and how she expresses her choices, feelings and personality.

Every person we support is different, but they all have something in common: they want meaningful relationships, opportunities to make choices, and support to live life on their own terms.

What Will You Be Doing?

You might be supporting someone like Sarah or Adam* to:

  • Go swimming or enjoy their favourite activities
  • Visit local shops, cafés or park events
  • Spend time with family and friends
  • Enjoy meals and everyday moments at home
  • Make choices about how they spend their day
  • Stay healthy, safe and comfortable

You'll also provide practical support with daily living, including getting ready, medication administration, eating and drinking support, and PEG feeding where required. Most importantly, you'll support people in ways that promote dignity, independence, choice and belonging.

Why This Role Matters

The best support isn't about doing things for people—it's about working alongside them, building relationships and creating opportunities for them to live the life they choose.

By taking the time to understand each person's communication, preferences and aspirations, you'll help create opportunities for connection, confidence and joy.

The rewards can often be found in the smallest moments: sharing a laugh, seeing someone enjoy a favourite activity, helping them try something new, or simply knowing they feel safe, understood and valued.

Position Details

  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Shifts worked on a rota basis including days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays
