At Mencap, we are looking for passionate, caring and reliable individuals to join our team of Support Workers in Bury St Edmunds, supporting adults with learning disabilities to live happy, fulfilling and independent lives.

As a Support Worker, you will play an important role in enabling the people we support to have choice in the things they do every day. This role is all about building relationships and getting to know each person as an individual, understanding what matters the most to them to help you to provide the right support to achieve their goals, build their confidence and enjoy the things they love.

This is a varied role, where you will be supporting with practical things around the home such as preparing meals, doing laundry, cleaning and maintaining a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment while offering support with personal care and manual handling where required.

A big part of the role is also assisting and encouraging people to enjoy life outside of the home and stay connected with their local community. You could be supporting someone to attend a day centre, go shopping, enjoy a trip to the cinema, have a meal out, attend an appointment or spend time with family and friends.

We take a person-centred approach, including Positive Behaviour Support, ensuring that every individual receives support that reflects their needs, preferences and aspirations. This approach helps to create a safe and happy environment where people feel valued, respected and empowered to live the life they choose.

Above all, we are looking for people who are kind, patient, dependable and genuinely passionate about supporting others.

If you are looking for a rewarding role where you can make a real difference, we would love to hear from you.
