Closing date: 29/07/2026
Location: Wheathampstead
Job Description
Help people build a life they love. Including your own.
Looking for a job where every day has purpose? Whether you're starting your career, looking for a change, or already have experience in support, this could be the opportunity you've been searching for.
We're looking for caring, curious and values-driven Support Workers to join our team in Wheathampstead, supporting six adults with learning disabilities to live gloriously ordinary lives—lives filled with friendship, choice, laughter, new experiences and the freedom to be themselves.
No two people are the same, and that's what makes this role so rewarding. You'll get to know each person's unique personality, interests, goals and aspirations, supporting them to do the things that matter most to them and to be active members of their local community.
What does a great day look like?
It could mean:
- Enjoying a walk around the village or stopping for coffee at a favourite café.
- Heading to the cinema, visiting the zoo or going ice skating.
- Browsing local shops or meeting friends at the pub.
- Sharing quiet moments at home with sensory activities, music or a favourite book.
- Celebrating achievements, trying something new, or simply enjoying everyday moments together.
Some days are full of adventure. Others are slower and more relaxed. Both are equally important because great support is about what matters to each individual, not following a set routine.
You'll be part of a supportive, welcoming team that believes everyone deserves the opportunity to live a rich, meaningful and ordinary life, with the right support when they need it.
About the role
This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week) working a rolling rota of days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
You must be a driver with a UK manual driving licence.
Who are we looking for?
You don't need previous experience in social care—we'll provide all the training and support you need. What matters most is that you share our values.
We're looking for people who are:
- Kind and compassionate.
- Respectful and honest.
- Positive, encouraging and fun.
- Great listeners who see the person before the disability.
- Passionate about helping people have choice, control and opportunities.
At MacIntyre, we believe in Gloriously Ordinary Lives. That means supporting people to enjoy the same everyday experiences, opportunities, relationships and sense of belonging that most of us value—whether that's meeting friends for coffee, trying something new, having a job, pursuing a hobby, or simply relaxing at home with people they enjoy spending time with. It's about putting people at the centre of everything we do, listening to what matters to them, and helping them shape lives that are rich, meaningful and uniquely their own.
If you believe everyone deserves the chance to live life on their own terms, we'd love to welcome you to our team.
Join us and help create gloriously ordinary lives—one conversation, one adventure and one ordinary moment at a time.
