Job Description

Help People Live Glorious Ordinary Lives

At MacIntyre, we believe everyone deserves a life filled with friendship, choice, belonging and the opportunity to do the things that matter most to them.

We're looking for caring, enthusiastic people to join our team and support people with learning and physical disabilities to live gloriously ordinary lives.

Could You Support Someone Like Matt*?

Matt loves being out and about. Whether that's swimming, visiting his favourite café, enjoying time with people he knows and trusts, or simply getting out into his local community, he enjoys a life filled with experiences, relationships and opportunities.

Like many of the people we support, Matt communicates in his own unique way. By taking time to get to know him, you'll learn what makes him smile, what matters to him, and how he expresses his choices, preferences and personality.

Every person we support is different, but they all have something in common: they want to live a life that is their own, with the freedom to make choices, build relationships and be active members of their community.

What Will You Be Doing?

No two days are ever the same.

You might be:

  • Supporting someone to go swimming or enjoy their favourite activities
  • Visiting local cafés, shops or community events
  • Helping people stay connected with family and friends
  • Supporting people to develop independence and confidence
  • Sharing meals, conversations and everyday moments together
  • Helping people achieve personal goals and try new experiences

Alongside this, you'll provide practical support tailored to individual needs, which may include medication support, eating and drinking support, and PEG feeding.

Most importantly, you'll support people in a way that promotes dignity, respect, choice and independence.

Why This Role Matters

The best support isn't about doing things for people—it's about working alongside them.

It's about understanding what a good day looks like for each person and helping to make it happen.

It's about noticing the little things: a smile when someone achieves something they've worked hard for, the excitement of a favourite activity, the comfort of being understood, or the confidence that comes from making their own choices.

These are the moments that make this role so rewarding.

Essential Requirements

  • Full UK manual or automatic driving licence
  • Licence must have been held for a minimum of 2 years

Hours and Working Pattern

Various hours are available to cover purpose hours:

  • Weekdays, Weekends, Bank holidays
  • Mornings, Afternoons, Evenings

Shifts are worked on a rota basis to meet the needs and choices of the people we support.

Join MacIntyre

At MacIntyre, we're ambitious for the people we support and for each other.

We believe in building communities where everyone belongs, where people's voices are heard, and where opportunities are created every day.

If you're looking for a role where you can build meaningful relationships, support people to achieve their goals, and help create glorious ordinary lives, we'd love to hear from you.

Because every great day starts with someone who cares enough to make it possible.
