Job title: Superstore Assistant Manager
Reporting to: Superstore Manager

Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £26,240.76 (FTE)
Job Purpose
The postholder supports the Superstore Manager with the smooth, efficient, and high-performing running of the store. Stepping up to lead in their absence, you will act as a visible, hands-on leader on the shop floor, helping to drive daily targets, maintain strong shop performance, and deliver exceptional customer service. Fostering a positive and supportive team culture by training, coaching, and empowering volunteers, contributing to a safe, welcoming, and well-presented retail environment.

Key Responsibilities
Sales & Income Generation
Support the Superstore Manager by proactively driving sales opportunities to help achieve and exceed daily targets
Review sales data on Power BI reports and put forward commercial ideas to the Superstore Manager to help drive performance.
Lead from the front when it comes to Gift Aid, actively demonstrating best practice, setting a strong example for volunteers to follow, and contributing to increasing Gift Aid sign-ups.
Manage stock control and rotation of both donated and branded goods, regularly highlighting stock flow and density on the shop floor to ensure strong availability, effective merchandising, and maximisation of income.
Shop Presentation & Customer Experience
Maintain high standards of shop presentation, visual merchandising and housekeeping at all times.
Ensure the store is clean, organised and welcoming for customers, donors, staff and volunteers.
Consistently demonstrate outstanding customer and supporter service, setting a clear standard for excellence across the team.
Support the resolution of customer queries and complaints promptly and professionally.
Volunteer Leadership
Assist in managing the day-to-day operation of the Superstore and step up fully in the absence of the Superstore Manager.
Manage and motivate volunteers, ensuring clear communication, strong team engagement, and a positive, supportive working environment.
Support recruitment, onboarding, training and ongoing development of volunteers.
Help maintain volunteer rotas to ensure adequate shop coverage.
Stock Management
Ensure donations, including furniture and electrical items are processed efficiently with accurate pricing, rotation and quality control.
Proactively encourage quality stock donations and champion Gift Aid processes to maximise income and ensure full compliance
Maintain consistent stock density, stock flow and seasonal relevance.
Actively identify high-value donated items and ensure these are prioritised and directed to the e-commerce department to maximise income for the charity.
Administration, Security & Financial Controls
Ensure all administrative tasks are completed accurately and on time.
Follow all cash handling, banking and security procedures.
Ensure EPOS procedures are completed correctly, including accurate entry of Gift Aid donor data in line with GDPR.
Health & Safety & Compliance
Ensure staff and volunteers follow Cornwall Air Ambulance’s policies, procedures and health & safety requirements.
Maintain a safe working environment and report repairs or maintenance needs through the correct channels.
Support the Superstore Manager with incident reporting and compliance checks.
