Do you have recent stage or company management experience? Do you have working knowledge of UK Theatre/Equity agreements? Are you confident building effective relationships with artists and colleagues? Do you have experience recruiting exceptional teams?
We are looking for an experienced Manager to take overall responsibility for the provision of Stage Management in Stratford-upon-Avon. In this role you will lead the recruitment, induction and support of freelance Stage Management teams and ensure an outstanding experience for all freelancers and artists working in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Reporting to the Executive Producer (Stratford) key areas of responsibility include (please see the Role Profile for the comprehensive list):
- Recruiting freelance Company Managers, Company Stage Managers, Stage Managers, Deputy Stage Managers, Assistant Stage Managers and Chaperones to build high performing, inclusive teams.
- Leading contracting, onboarding and induction processes for all freelance Stage Management colleagues.
- Line managing the Company & Stage Management Coordinator
- Line managing freelance Company Managers or Company Stage Managers whilst in Stratford (who in turn manage the wider Stage Management team working on each production).
- Ensuring smooth rehearsal and production support in Stratford, including liaising with cross-departmental colleagues and the LondonManager, Stage Management
- Managing key administrative systems, budget processes, records, archiving and database oversight.
- Building networks and wellbeing support structures that positively shape the freelancer experience.
To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have:
- Professional experience in Stage Management and/or Company Management Working knowledge of UK Theatre/Equity agreements.
- Demonstrable experience recruiting and supporting stage management teams.
- Strong administrative, planning and organisational skills in a fast-paced artistic environment.
- Experience leading and line managing colleagues.
- Evidence of working with budgets and financial processes.
This is a full‑time, permanent position based in Stratford-upon-Avon.
You will be working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, although occasional weekend and evening work may be required depending on rehearsal and production schedules. Some flexible working may be possible in line with departmental needs.
