About us
The CRUK Scotland Institute is a cancer research institute, situated in Glasgow with approximately 250 researchers split across 30 research groups consisting of PIs, postdoctoral scientists, PhD students and scientific officers. It is one of Europe's leading cancer research centres, supporting cutting-edge work into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development. As well as core support from Cancer Research UK, the Institute also receives an additional third of its total income from external grants and industry collaborations. It has an excellent reputation for fundamental cancer research, including world-class metabolism studies and renowned in vivo modelling of tumour growth and metastasis.
Position outline
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Stores & Logistics Coordinator to support the efficient day-to-day operation of our Stores function. This role is responsible for coordinating international shipments, managing stock and supplier relationships, supporting financial processes, and delivering excellent customer service across the Institute.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and have experience operating in a fast-paced warehouse or stores environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate external shipping of materials and samples to collaborators worldwide, working independently and alongside shipping companies.
- Ensure all shipping and compliance documentation is completed accurately to prevent delays or loss of valuable samples.
- Approve Institute orders, ensuring Health & Safety documentation, supplier pricing, and agreed discounts are correctly applied.
- Assist the Finance team by ensuring goods are correctly invoiced and processed.
- Manage Stores budgets and monitor departmental spend.
- Maintain effective stock control processes, including optimising reorder levels and reducing waste.
- Identify suitable alternative products or suppliers in the event of stock shortages or supplier issues.
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure cost savings and improve service where possible.
- Deliver a strong customer-focused service to internal and external stakeholders, often working to tight deadlines and changing priorities.
- Ability to deal professionally in challenging situations, including difficult conversations to achieve a positive outcome.
- Support day-to-day Stores operations including:
- Picking and preparing stock for delivery
- Receipting incoming deliveries
- Maintaining accurate inventory records
- Responding to customer queries and emails in a timely manner
- Driving CRUK Fleet vehicle
