About Mindful Therapies
Mindful Therapies is a community-focused organisation dedicated to improving mental health, wellbeing and social connection through mindfulness, and community development.
We deliver accessible mindfulness groups, community projects and wellbeing activities across Newcastle and North Tyneside. We are currently developing our Resilience Hub to provide an inclusive centre for mental health and wellbeing.
We're looking for someone creative, enthusiastic and organised who can help tell our story and engage more people with our work.
Purpose of the Role
This role has been created to support the promotion and development of the Resilience Hub, funded by the Newcastle Fund.
Working closely with the CEO and wider team, the postholder will lead on promoting Resilience Hub activities, increasing community awareness, recruiting participants and volunteers, and capturing the impact of the project through engaging communications.
The role will focus on creating and sharing content that showcases the Resilience Hub's activities, encourages participation, and helps demonstrate the outcomes of the project to funders and the wider community.
Main Responsibilities
Social Media
• Plan, create and schedule engaging content across social media platforms.
• Promote mindfulness classes, workshops and community projects.
• Adapt existing content into social media posts.
• Create simple graphics and promotional images using Canva.
• Monitor engagement and respond appropriately to comments and messages.
• Identify opportunities to increase audience reach and engagement.
Communications
• Support production of newsletters.
• Write short articles, impact stories and promotional copy.
• Help grow newsletter subscribers.
• Maintain a consistent organisational voice across communications.
Marketing
• Promote the Resilience Hub
• Support recruitment of participants, volunteers and trainees.
• Produce simple posters, flyers and digital marketing materials.
Website
• Suggest updates and improvements to website content.
• Work with colleagues to ensure information remains accurate and up to date.
• Assist with uploading new content where appropriate.
Content Gathering
• Attend occasional events to capture photographs and stories.
• Work with staff and volunteers to identify positive stories and outcomes.
• Capture high-quality photographs and short videos suitable for use across social media, newsletters and the website.
• Work at least partially from the Mindful Therapies Centre as required, to capture engaging content from classes, workshops and courses.
• Help demonstrate the impact of our work through participant stories and project updates.
Person Specification
Essential
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Experience using Facebook and Instagram for organisations.
• Good understanding of creating engaging online content.
• Basic graphic design skills (e.g. Canva).
• Strong organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Friendly and professional communication style.
• Ability to take good-quality photographs and short-form video content for social media.
• Passion for community wellbeing and mental health.
• Photography or short-form video skills.
Desirable
• Experience using LinkedIn and TikTok.
• Experience with Mailchimp or similar newsletter software.
• Knowledge of WordPress.
• Experience working within the voluntary or charity sector.
• A portfolio or examples of previous social media, photography or video work.
• Understanding of mindfulness or mental health services.

Success in the Role
By the end of the initial six-month pilot we would hope to see evidence of:

• Greater visibility of funded projects.
• Increased number of people providing feedback and attending consultation events.
• A consistent and recognisable online presence.
Monthly targets will be agreed with the line manager and reviewed with the board. These may include growth in social media followers, newsletter subscribers, mailing list sign-ups and attendance at classes and events.
