About the services:

The service manager will be responsible for the Active Monitoring and Peer Support Worcestershire Services.

Active Monitoring is an early intervention programme of five face-to-face sessions, working in partnership with GPs to refer patients directly to a Supported Self Help Practitioner within the GP surgery as soon as they present with symptoms of anxiety and panic attacks, anger, depression, low self-esteem, stress, feeling alone and bereavement.

Mental Health Link Workers are based within the Worcestershire Peer Support Service. Our qualified mental health link workers facilitate a number of 10-week peer support groups across Worcestershire. These groups are designed to enable service users to share their experiences, and listen to those of others, in a safe and confidential setting. Our current groups are in Redditch, Evesham and Kidderminster.

About the role

The Service Manager will lead and oversee a portfolio of mental health and wellbeing services across Coventry, Warwickshire and Worcestershire. Reporting to the Head of Operations, the postholder will be responsible for ensuring services are delivered safely, effectively and in line with contractual requirements, quality standards, and organisational policies and key performance indicators (KPIs). The Service Manager will provide leadership and supervision to staff and volunteers, support service development, and build effective relationships with commissioners, delivery partners and stakeholders. They will be responsible for driving continuous improvements, maintaining high standards of safeguarding and governance, and ensuring services achieve positive outcomes for the people who use them.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and provide clear direction in the development and delivery of high-quality services within your defined contract area(s) of responsibility.
  • Accountable for planning efficient and effective staffing to ensure optimal service delivery.
  • Lead the local team to achieve all performance targets, and ensure that all quality, monitoring and reporting requirements, both internal and external, are in place and met, including high quality casework allocation and management
  • Ensure people using the service are actively engaged in the support planning process including setting and agreeing outcomes, exit strategy and managing expectations with procedures in place to actively refer individuals onto appropriate services.
  • Responsible and accountable for all data used or collected within the services to be in-line with SWWM data protection, confidentiality policy and procedures and information governance.
  • Attend and participate in team and organisational meetings and training as appropriate.
  • Ensure disciplinary matters, grievances and whistle blowing issues are dealt with promptly and professionally in accordance with organisational procedures in liaison with HR.

Essential requirements

  • Excellent leadership skills to motivate and inspire staff, volunteers and build resilient teams.
  • Experience of working in the voluntary sector.
  • Experience of marketing and promoting services.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work constructively with a diverse range of people across all levels.
  • Significant experience of developing and leading a strong performance and outcomes focused culture.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of: –
    • Key issues/service provision in mental health.
    • Impact evaluation and practical approaches to monitoring progress against objectives and outcomes
  • A willingness to be flexible and attend meetings outside normal working hours
  • Have a full, clean driving licence and access to transport
