About the Service

Phoenix Futures is working in partnership with Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust to deliver an innovative service:
The Specialist Community Forensic Team.

This service supports individuals within the forensic mental health system to move away from secure hospital settings and access appropriate support in the community. Our aim is to:

  • Improve quality of life
  • Reduce inequality
  • Restore hope for people who may have been detained for many years

The team plays a pivotal role in supporting safe and successful transitions from secure settings into community-based services.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and motivated professional with:

  • Relevant health and social care experience
  • A proven track record of managing services and delivering high-quality outcomes
  • An innovative, collaborative approach to partnership working
  • A strong understanding of how to access and coordinate community support

Knowledge of mental health pathways and services within Essex would be highly desirable.

Contract Details

  • Fixed-term contract until 31 March 2027
  • 22.5 hours per week

We are looking for a Housing Support Officer to be part of a ground-breaking new team, improving the lives of forensic mental health service users.

EPUT has been chosen by NHS England to pioneer a new approach to support forensic service users in the community instead of in secure hospitals to improve quality of life, reduce inequality, and give hope to people who may have been detained for many years. It also saves significant expenditure on hospital care, which can be reinvested into community services.
The new team will work to transition service users out of secure settings, and support their ongoing recovery in the community.

This role is a rare chance to be part of shaping a new service, providing opportunities to develop your skills and your career.

As the postholder you will work with the multi-disciplinary team and inpatient services at the earliest stage of discharge and support service users to live independently offering quality advice and support. You will build up close working relationships with all housing providers to provide an overall holistic package of housing management ground-breaking new team, improving the lives of forensic mental health service users.
