Phoenix Futures Services in Essex recruit, train and develop peer mentor volunteers to support and engage the people who use our services, in a holistic and trauma informed approach. We seek guidance and knowledge from our lived experience representatives to co-design and co- produce the service delivery across Essex.
Services that Phoenix Futures run in Essex includes:

Purpose of the Role
- To support with the running and delivery of services.
- To support with the running and facilitation of groups.
- To provide support and encouragement to people accessing community services and activities.
- To use your lived experience and knowledge to help design and co-produce services and support new initiatives.
- To offer one-to-one peer mentoring to service users who have been referred for this support where appropriate.

Derbyshire Recovery Partnership Substance Use Service
Volunteer - various opportunities and locations within Derbyshire
Phoenix Futures are one of four providers that make up the Derbyshire Recovery Partnership drug and alcohol service. We are currently developing a team of lived experience Volunteers who will be involved in our new Lived Experience Career Pathway in Derbyshire.
Within our service we have three types of volunteering opportunities; Wellbeing and Groupwork Volunteer, Recovery Connector Volunteer and Recovery Through Nature (RTN) Volunteer. Our minimum volunteering commitment is 4 hours per week - please let us know on your application of your requested volunteering days, times and locations.

Wellbeing and Groupwork Volunteers
Our Wellbeing and Groupwork Volunteers focus on supporting people actively in treatment for drug and/or alcohol use. This role involves working in our office bases/satellite sites alongside our Key Workers.
You will support Key Workers as they conduct 121 sessions, drug/alcohol testing and attend internal and external professions meetings. You will assist with the delivery of groups including: gender specific, therapeutic , rehab, aftercare, mindfulness, substance specific and peer support groups and service user involvement sessions, meetings and activities. You will support Key Workers with encouraging people accessing our service to attend 121 sessions, groups and activities; highlighting the benefits they are likely to receive.
Recovery Connector Volunteers
Our Recovery Connector Volunteers are community based and support people entering/accessing/exiting treatment to attend local recovery projects, activities and events. This role involves working within the community alongside our Recovery Connectors.
You will support people to attend Derbyshire County Council's grant funded local recovery projects. You will co-facilitate structured groups, peer-led groups and SMART meetings and assist in the planning and organising recovery-focused activities and events within the local community.
Recovery Through Nature (RTN) Volunteers
Our Recovery Through Nature Volunteers are community based and work to engage people who use our services in a range of practical conservation and horticultural projects to aid their recovery. This role involves working within the community alongside our Recovery Through Nature lead.
You will work with our RTN staff and assist with the delivery of the project and in the further development of our RTN projects across Derbyshire. You will assist with planning and organising Recovery Through Nature activities and events within the local community and encourage people to attend the project. You will liaise with RTN staff after sessions, debriefing, reviewing and planning future sessions. You will contribute to the completion of identified tasks and will assist people attending the project to complete conservation and environmental related awards.

Following application we will arrange to meet with you to discuss what opportunities you can get involved in within our service, and what your chosen location and role is. This role is subject to an enhanced DBS and references - if you have any questions about either of these, we'll be happy to answer them for you. Once recruited you will be invited in for a meeting where we can complete a volunteer agreement with you, which will also provide an agreed framework of what activities, events, groups you'll be involved with, on what days and times, and where within the county you'll be volunteering. You will be allocated a 'buddy', receive a wealth of internal and external training, shadowing opportunities and hands-on experience within the field of drug and alcohol work. You will have regular supervision with your line manager alongside 121 support from our Lived Experience Career Co-Ordinator who will offer you a range of accredited qualifications and peer support sessions to assist you on your career path.

Volunteer/Peer Mentor
We are recruiting for volunteer workers to join our innovative Enhanced Therapeutic Community Residential Service in Oakwood, Derby. The service provides Residential Rehabilitation for substance misuse.
As a Volunteer Worker, you will support individuals accessing the residential rehabilitation programme to achieve outcomes that help create long-term recovery. Using the Therapeutic Community “community as method” model you will empower individuals, families and communities to be confident about recovery.
You will support the day to day running of the therapeutic community, ensuring service user needs are met and the best possible care is provided in an environment that promotes a culture of recovery in line with a recovery orientated system of care and the Quality Principles. You will support with the delivery of therapeutic groups, activities, and specialised interventions in accordance with the TC manual and the needs of the service.
Previous experience of a Therapeutic Community is desirable, however not essential. Workers come from many different backgrounds and experiences, and you may have the skills required. We are seeking dedicated individuals, based on your values, willingness to learn new skills and the compassion to deliver the best service possible to our residents.

Sessional Worker

The Role
Your role as a Sessional Worker will be key. You will work within the Therapeutic Team responsible for the implementation of the Therapeutic Programme, ensuring an effective and high-quality programme is delivered.
As a Sessional Worker, you will support individuals accessing the residential rehabilitation programme to achieve outcomes that help create long-term recovery. Therapeutic Recovery Worker
We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity to join the Phoenix Futures team as a Therapeutic Worker at our new and innovative Trauma Responsive Women’s Therapeutic Community Residential Service, Ophelia House.
The Role
- Effectively manage a small caseload of less than five women, conducting assessments and developing personalised care plans that cater to their unique needs
- Embrace our“community as method” modelto work not only with users of our services but their families and wider surrounding networks to ensure that everyone is equipped with the tools, knowledge and approaches, all essential to a long-term recovery

Recovery & Wellbeing Practitioner
Phoenix Futures is looking to recruit a passionate and solution focused Recovery & Wellbeing Practitioner at HMP Littlehey.
The Role
As a Recovery & Wellbeing Practitioner you will be providing harm reduction and support to those with substance use issues, and you will provide support in recovery through relapse prevention and care planning. You will also act as an advocate for service users; signposting and referring to the necessary agencies in order to support them throughout their sentence and preparing for release into the community.
Our team of Practitioners build individual treatment plans involving both one-to-one and group facilitation. We aim to address all the core issues of substance use, improve life skills, confidence and self esteem. You will have the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external agencies.
Employment is dependent on HMPS vetting.
As an individual, we are looking for someone who is:
- Self-motivated

Alcohol Practitioner
We have an exciting opportunity at Derbyshire Recovery Partnership Drug and Alcohol Service for someone who is passionate about helping people using alcohol. The role will be working within the Chesterfield area of Derbyshire.
The Role
The role will involve offering a range of alcohol related harm reduction interventions and structured key working to support people on your caseload to address their alcohol use. Your work will be underpinned by comprehensive assessments, identification and management of risk, and care planning. You will work in a recovery-focussed way as you support people accessing the service to attain improved health outcomes and achieve their personalised treatment goals. This will involve providing one-one support to individuals recovering from alcohol dependency and assist them in reducing their use by appropriate involvement of other specialist teams including Alcohol Non-Medical Prescribers, Community Recovery Connectors, Hospital Alcohol Liaison Workers and rehab leads You will support people on your caseload in an individual and person-centred way to achieve positive outcomes. You will support people to explore treatment options including alcohol drink-downs, detox and rehabilitation.
Comprehensive alcohol and intervention training will be facilitated within your induction.

Criminal Justice Drug and Alcohol Practitioner
DERBYSHIRE RECOVERY PARTNERSHIP COMMUNITY DRUG AND ALCOHOL SERVICE
The Derbyshire Recovery Partnership are looking to recruit a passionate and enthusiastic individual to be our new drug and alcohol worker in the Buxton area of High Peak Derbyshire. This role will be working with people involved in the criminal justice system, who may be leaving prison or are already living in the local community.
There will be plenty of drug and alcohol and criminal justice training provided; it's not essential to already have experience of this. We're looking for transferrable skills and someone who is keen to learn and excited about this field of work and helping people that have been/are involved with criminality.
The Role
In this role you will be trained to co-ordinate care and deliver 121 and groups focused on psychosocial and harm reduction interventions to people who use our service. This cohort of people accessing our service may be subject to licence conditions, Alcohol Treatment Requirement (ATR) and Drug Rehabilitation Requirement (DRR) court orders, and may be involved with the Integrated Offender Management (IOM) team, Courts, Liaison and Diversion, Prison healthcare, Probation services. The focus of this role is helping engage people to address their drug/alcohol use and reduce criminality, improving their health outcomes and quality of life.
This role involves managing a small caseload where you will provide a high intensity and frequency of support to people living in the Buxton High Peak community.
There is also an opportunity to apply for prison vetting and once cleared you can conduct some prison in-reach with people who will shortly be leaving prison to return to their local community in Derbyshire. We conduct prison in-reach primarily in HMP Foston Hall, HMP Nottingham and HMP Ranby, and in-reach will involve assessing the treatment needs of people leaving prison and supporting them by involving other services as you plan comprehensive community-based care. You will liaise closely and regularly with other relevant professionals and involve specialist local services within your role.
This role will be based in Buxton in High Peak Derbyshire, working 37.5 hours per week; Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, on a permanent contract. Due to the outreach and responsive nature of this role, applicants must have a driving licence and access to their own vehicle for work and travel expenses for outreach are reimbursed.
Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate a clear passion for working with people using drugs and/or alcohol that are also involved in the criminal justice system. Applicants will have an innovative, motivating and proactive approach to their work.

The role will involve offering a range of harm reduction interventions and structured key working, helping engage service users in a care-planned and recovery focussed way to attain improved health outcomes and achieve their personalised treatment goals. This will involve you effectively organising and delivering 1-2-1 care-planned support and facilitating group work sessions as required, using appropriate models, interventions and approaches tailored to meet the individual needs of service users. Furthermore, you will support them in their individual, person-centred journey to build recovery capital by partnership working with other support agencies and local projects. You will work closely with specialist teams within our service, including recovery connectors, employment workers, rehab workers, counsellors and clinical colleagues.
Full role training and shadowing opportunities will be included as part of your induction.

Recovery Worker - Lambeth Consortium - Opiate Team
The Role
Phoenix Futures is looking to recruit a passionate and solution focused Recovery Workers as part of our Lambeth Service. Working in Partnership with SLAM increasing our support offer for clients who are wanting to access treatment and support for Substance Use. You will act as the first point of contact for residents in Lambeth. You will assess and engage our service users into treatment and other community support services by maximising their engagement with community services. The role will involve working from Lorraine Hewett House . The right candidate will help us shape our Psychosocial offering for clients presenting with drug and alcohol issues.
This role will be part of the Opiate team specialising in the support for people with a history of Opiate use. A good knowledge of the effects of opiates and the related harm reduction interventions are essential.
Full training will be given but prior knowledge around Naloxone and its benefits will also be a big advantage.
Close working with our clinical partners in the consortium will form a key part of the role to support anyone who is currently prescribed OST, or discussions with clients about the safety offered by OST prescribing.
Existing knowledge about the specific health risks presented by opiate use is essential, especially for those who inject their drugs. Promoting access to the needle exchange and regular reviewing of OST prescriptions will be a key part of the role for the successful applicant working alongside our clinical staff in the consortium.
You will complete assessments with those accessing support and collaboratively develop their care plans with them. You will work closely with other teams in the community and at Lorraine Hewett House to ensure that all relevant support options are discussed and referrals made to appropriate experts and clinicians. You will support the needs of the people in your care with a variety of psychosocial interventions and have access to referral pathways into clinical interventions and mental health support, all within Lorraine Hewett House and the community.
The clinical and mental health interventions are delivered by SLAM our partner in the consortium. You will build a caseload of people under your care and manage their needs accordingly while they remain in treatment at the consortium.
This role is ideal for someone with prior experience of managing a complex caseload, to offer substance use treatment in a multi agency environment.
This role is based on a model where you will work 100% of your time on-site at Lorraine Hewett House in Brixton, and the hours of work are 09:00 - 17:00 with a 30 minute lunch break, and this completes a 37.5 hour week from Monday to Friday.
Full training will be given to use the relevant IT systems at the consortium. We use EPJS as the case management system, so any prior experience of using that system will be an advantage.

The RhEST (Regional Homeless Engagement with Substance Treatment) is part of a commissioned Pan-London Substance Use Pathway for people who sleep rough. Working in close partnership with the existing Essex Countywide Traveller Unit (ECTU), the service will cover the County of Essex (excluding Southend and Thurrock) and will work in partnership with the ECTU to provide enhanced support to individuals and their families from the communities in Essex across a range of needs (including substance use, physical and/or mental health needs, housing, education and employment).
The Role
You will work as part of a small team to deliver a service that makes a tangible difference to the lives of those it works with. Holding a caseload, you will work in an intensive, multi-agency way to empower people within the travelling community to access a wide range of services and sustain positive change. This will include outreach, advocacy, signposting and onward referrals (to include accompanying people to appointments) and forging strong links with local partners and services to form a multi-disciplinary network of support.
There will be four practitioners who will each cover a specific area of the County (North, Mid, South or West Essex) and this role will be based in our Harlow office.

Therapeutic Worker
The Role:
Your role in our therapeutic community will be key. You will manage a caseload, assess the people who use our service and manage their recovery/care plans. It will mean developing and applying a range of therapeutic approaches to meet their individual needs, whether that’s employment, education, health etc. You’ll be the one who sees that everything is coordinated from the moment they’re referred to us to the time that they move home.
As a Therapeutic Worker, you will support individuals accessing the residential rehabilitation programme to achieve outcomes that help create long-term recovery. Using the Therapeutic Community “community as method” model you will empower individuals, families and communities to be confident about recovery.
You will support the day to day running of the therapeutic community, ensuring service user needs are met and the best possible care is provided in an environment that promotes a culture of recovery. Whilst also being confident to deliver therapeutic groups, activities, and specialist interventions in accordance with the TC manual and the needs of the service.

The Role:
Your role in our therapeutic community will be key. You will organise and facilitate the evening running of the Therapeutic Community programme in the National Specialist Family Service. You will co-ordinate the service users’ tasks and activities. You will provide waking night cover, ensuring that risk is monitored and minimised. Harper House, run by Phoenix Futures Scotland, offers safe, structured support for the whole family to address their problematic drug and/or alcohol use, improve their mental health and quality of life. Our residents are able to continue caring for their children while they are working on their recovery in a supportive, nurturing, and substance-free environment.
The service was formally opened by the then First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, on November 21, 2022, in a partnership with the Scottish Government. In our first year, we have supported more than 21 families and 30 children, and have been featured as Ayrshire Community Trust’s service of the month.

Therapeutic Worker
Come and join us in this fabulous opportunity. We are looking for a new Therapeutic worker within our residential setting. We are looking for a special kind of person who wants to make a difference in peoples lives. Could this be you?
The Role
We need someone who can work in a team within a residential setting and be empowering and passionate in supporting adults to make positive changes in their drug and alcohol lifestyle choices. You would be working within the team responsible for the implementation, development, and evaluation of the therapeutic programme, ensuring an effective and high-quality provision is delivered to everyone accessing the service. You would be managing a case load, ensuring end-to-end quality care co-ordination that meets the needs of both community members and stakeholders. You would ensure everyone is appropriately assessed and inducted into the TC programme according to their individualized needs, in line with the therapeutic community manual. Other duties will include facilitating a structured group programme delivering interventions and bringing innovation and passion to a well-established and successful service.

We're recruiting a Senior Recovery Practitioner to join our London Regional Homeless Engagement with Substance Treatment Team (RhEST) - a centrally commissioned service providing assertive outreach and trauma-informed support across the capital.
This is currently listed as fixed term, however it may become permanent subject to contractual discussions.
The Role
This is a hybrid outreach and home-based role with a focus on:
- Engaging with rough sleepers across London who are affected by drug and/or alcohol use
- Conducting needs and risk assessments in-person
- Delivering trauma-informed, harm reduction support and brief psychosocial interventions
- Advocating and referring into local statutory substance use services
- Case manage clients independently while collaborating within a small, experienced, and supportive team
- Navigating multi-agency partnerships to ensure holistic, coordinated care
- Working flexibly and proactively engaging hard-to-reach clients to improve health outcomes, quality of life, and access to treatment
- Supporting people who are leaving prison and at risk of homelessness.
- Targeted work alongside the London Navigator Teams to support the most disadvantaged homeless people across London.

About You
We welcome candidates who are:
- Experienced in supporting people with substance use and/or homelessness issues (essential)
- Skilled in trauma-informed care and brief psychosocial interventions
- Knowledgeable about harm reduction practices concerning substance use
- Confident with risk management, safeguarding, and lone working protocols
- Able to work independently, manage a complex caseload, and prioritise in a dynamic outreach environment
- Empathetic, adaptable, and confident communicating with diverse communities and professionals
- Willing and able to travel across London regularly (expenses covered).
