We are looking to recruit supportive and caring individuals with a passion for helping people in need, to deliver non-clinical mental health and wellbeing support at Derbyshire Mind’s Crisis Support Drop-In service across our three sites; Buxton, Ripley & Swadlincote.
The Senior Support Worker will work providing support and occasional cover for all three sites, subject to the needs of the service/s.
Derbyshire Mind’s Crisis Support Drop-In services are supportive non-clinical crisis services for adults who self-define as needing immediate help with their mental health or emotional wellbeing. Located in Buxton, Ripley and Swadlincote, the services offer out-of-hours mental health help, support and signposting in a relaxed and comfortable community environment. The services are open on Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons, all year round.
We have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and resilient mental health support workers to join our friendly supportive team and to help deliver this vital service to local people. This will include providing support to people who may be experiencing, or may otherwise experience, a mental health crisis. This includes offering a listening ear along with structured support to develop a wellbeing plan and signposting advice.
The Role

Hours: Full time: Average 37 hours per week including Crisis Support shifts worked on site as required
Salary: £28,840 pa
Contract: Fixed term contract to 31st March 2027, with potential for an ongoing contract extension.
Location: preferred site
Job Purpose:The Senior Support Worker role is a key member of the team both ensuring delivery of the Crisis Support Drop-In Service and also leading and working alongside the Crisis Support Drop-In Service Team, Support Workers, Volunteers and other members of the team across all sites. The Senior Support Worker is responsible for providing leadership of the CSDI team on-site, liaising with other services, reporting to the Services Lead ensuring support to/for attendees in an empathetic, non-judgemental, person-centered manner. The CSDI Senior Support Worker is employed on a "flexible by location" basis, so the ability to travel to and from other sites is essential for this role.
Working Pattern: The Service runs year-round so the rota includes public holiday working.
Key Roles and Responsibilities: The Senior Support Worker is responsible for delivering the Crisis Support Drop-In Service for people who arrive in emotional distress, using active listening without judgement, and assessing, monitoring and supporting individuals on a one-to-one basis. The Senior Support Worker is responsible for ensuring all aspects of the service are staffed and that all staff are trained and supported in their role/s. A driving license and access to a car is necessary as the service operates at times when public transport doesn't run and to attend such meetings, events, etc. as might be required as part of the role, especially when promoting the service with partners externally.
