About the role:

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Senior Support Worker to join our Poole Supported Living team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centred support to individuals with learning disabilities, enabling them to live as independently as possible.

Working alongside the Team Manager, you will help lead and support the team while ensuring excellent standards of housing-related support across a range of accommodation in Poole —currently operating from 8am –6pm 7 days a week, and working with individuals requiring a few hours of support each week who live in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

As a Senior Support Worker, you will:

  • Support the Team Manager in leading and motivating a team to deliver outstanding care
  • Ensure policies, procedures, and care standards are consistently followed
  • Coordinate and oversee keyworker responsibilities, ensuring accurate records and progress reports
  • Provide guidance, supervision, and support to team members, including new starters
  • Lead or support team meetings and promote clear communication across the service
  • Help organise staff rotas using specialist software, including covering absences where required
  • Take part in the on-call service over weekends to support service delivery
  • Work collaboratively with families, professionals, and external agencies
  • Maintain high standards of support, dignity, and respect for all service users
  • Monitor resources, equipment, and the overall home environment.

About you:

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • A strong team player with leadership potential
  • Confident in supervising and supporting staff
  • Organised, with excellent communication and record-keeping skills
  • Able to build positive relationships with service users, families, and professionals.

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experiencein Health & Social Care
  • Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Adults)
  • Knowledge of learning disabilities and behaviours that challenge
  • Understanding of Person-Centred Planning
  • Awareness of Mental Capacity ActandDoLS
  • Experience of staff supervision and rota planning
  • Ability to participate in on-call duties and flexible rota patterns.
