The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Metallurgist and Data Scientist to structure and deliver international consulting engagements within the steel sector. This role combines deep technical expertise, project leadership, and client advisory responsibilities in a highly specialized industrial environment. You will work directly with steel producers, plant leadership teams, and senior executives to deliver high-impact operational and technical consulting projects. The ideal candidate combines strong steel industry metallurgical knowledge and deep analytical capabilities. This is an excellent opportunity for a steel industry professional who enjoys solving complex operational challenges while working in an international and client-facing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver complex international technical consulting projects for steel producers and industrial clients
• Manage project scope, timelines, stakeholder communication, and successful client delivery
• Translate operational and technical steelmaking challenges into practical consulting solutions
• Collaborate with domain process expert, operational, and analytical experts across multidisciplinary teams
• Support business development activities, including client engagement, proposal development, and project scoping
• Build long-term relationships with client leadership teams and operational stakeholders
• Contribute to the continuous development of Steel Hub methodologies and consulting capabilities
• Support strategic analysis and data-driven operational improvement initiatives

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline
• Minimum 7 years of experience within the steel industry, heavy industry, industrial consulting, or technical engineering environments
• Strong understanding of steelmaking processes, plant operations, and industrial performance improvement
• Experience managing complex technical or operational projects in international environments
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage both technical and executive audiences
• Demonstrated ability to build trusted client relationships
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Willingness to travel internationally on a regular basis

Preferred Experience

• Experience with major engineering or technology providers such as Primetals Technologies, Danieli, SMS group, or Tenova
• Exposure to operational analytics, industrial data science, or Machine learning and digital transformation initiatives
• Advanced analytical skills using Excel, Power BI, and Python
• Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent)
• Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
• Previous experience in industrial or strategy consulting environments
