The International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG) is a highly respected professional membership organisation with members in more than 160 countries and comprised primarily of clinicians who are ultrasound experts in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The Society includes obstetricians and gynecologists, trainees, medical doctors, scientists, sonographers, midwives and other health professionals who work to advance women’s health and wellbeing globally. Our mission is to improve women’s health through the provision, advancement and dissemination of the highest quality education, standards and research information around ultrasound in obstetrics and gynecology. This is achieved through education and training, programmatic initiatives and advocacy.
ISUOG delivers a portfolio of events including its annual World Congress other regional meetings and a targeted virtual event to low resource communities, Ultrasound Essentials. These events are annual, designed to deliver cutting edge, comprehensive, high-quality science to our global and regional communities respectively. The World Congress enters its 36th year in 2026 and attracts 2,000-3,000 participants from 100-130 countries depending on its location. Our regional events support ISUOG’s regionalization strategy and these events vary in format from in person to virtual. They range in size from 300-1,000 depending on the region.
Role responsibilities
This role is a senior events leadership position within International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG), responsible for overseeing the delivery and strategic direction of the organisation’s global events portfolio during a temporary cover period. The role’s primary focus is ensuring continuity, stability, and strong team performance while leading the successful delivery of ISUOG’s flagship World Congress alongside regional and virtual events that support the organisation’s global education and engagement objectives.
The postholder is responsible for end-to-end event management, including operational planning, budgeting, supplier and venue management, risk oversight, stakeholder engagement, and delivery against key performance indicators relating to quality, attendance, financial performance, and member satisfaction. A major aspect of the role involves cross-functional collaboration with internal teams, committees, volunteers, faculty, exhibitors, and external suppliers to ensure seamless event execution and high-quality customer experience across all stages of delivery.
In addition to operational leadership, the role includes people management and strategic responsibilities. The successful candidate will provide leadership and direction to the Events Team, maintain team morale and operational effectiveness, oversee departmental planning, and support the CEO and senior leadership team with the organisation’s broader commercial and events strategy. The role also contributes to continuous improvement, long-term planning, and ensuring ISUOG’s events remain sector-leading, innovative, and aligned with organisational goals.
