About Us
Founded in 1997, GamCare is the leading provider of information, advice and support for anyone affected by gambling harms. We founded and operate the National Gambling Helpline and provide structured support for anyone who is harmed by gambling.
The Role
GamCare is going through an exciting period of transformation, as we strengthen our services, systems and people practices to better support those affected by Gambling Harm. To help us on this journey, we are seeking a Senior Advisor – Recruitment and HR to play a pivotal role in shaping how we attract, support and retain our people during a time of change.
This is a dual‑focused role combining hands‑on HR advisory and employee relations support with end‑to‑end responsibility for permanent and temporary recruitment, with recruitment taking priority depending on organisational needs. Working closely with managers across GamCare, you will act as a trusted advisor and practical partner, delivering high‑quality, inclusive recruitment activity alongside pragmatic and responsive HR support.
As a trusted advisor, you will provide pragmatic HR guidance to managers and employees, ensuring fair, consistent and legally compliant application of policies and procedures. At the same time, you will partner closely with hiring managers to deliver inclusive, candidate-focused recruitment processes that attract and retain the right talent to support GamCare’s important mission.
You will work as part of the People and Organisational Development (POD) team, contributing to the continuous improvement of HR and recruitment systems, processes and practices.
About You
You are an experienced HR professional with a strong background in both generalist HR casework (particularly employee relations and absence management) and recruitment delivery. You thrive in a busy, evolving environment where you can manage competing priorities, use your initiative, and build effective relationships with managers, employees and candidates alike.
With a good working knowledge of UK employment law and sound understanding of recruitment best practice, you are confident advising at all levels and delivering positive experiences for both candidates and hiring managers. You are highly organised, detail-oriented, and committed to equality, diversity and inclusion in everything you do.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide timely, accurate and pragmatic HR advice to managers and employees on a wide range of policies and procedures, including employee relations, absence management, family leave and performance.
- Coordinate and deliver end-to-end recruitment campaigns for permanent and temporary roles, from role scoping and advert writing through to shortlisting, interviews and onboarding.
- Support hiring managers with resource planning, inclusive job profiles, selection methods and candidate engagement to ensure a smooth and positive recruitment experience.
- Oversee absence management processes, produce reports, support managers and coordinate Occupational Health referrals where needed.
- Manage recruitment activity within the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), ensuring accurate data recording and reporting.
- Ensure equality, diversity and inclusion best practice is embedded throughout all recruitment activity.
- Maintain accurate HR records and ensure timely notifications to Finance for payroll purposes (starters, leavers and contractual changes).
- Contribute to the development and improvement of HR policies, procedures and systems.
