Saturday & Sundays (730am - 6pm (inc unpaid 30min break))

By joining our team of Security Support Officers you will be based in some of Birmingham’s most historic and stunning buildings, with internationally renowned collections, high footfall of visitors and major tourist destination.
As a Security Support Officer you will be primarily based out of Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery but could work across any of Birmingham Museums Trust sites; ensuring all aspects of security for the buildings and protection of our assets against loss or damage.
The ideal candidate will have experience of security work, including operating CCTV, with good interpersonal skills, having a confident and authoritative style, good level of literacy, numeracy and IT skills and be able to be proactive and take the lead in an emergency. Candidates should be able to work with minimal supervision and on their own, with a strong customer focus, self-motivated and a team player, with a level of flexibility to work shifts and into the evening when required.
Ideally candidates should hold a valid SIA license (CCTV and DS).
The role is very busy and there are no two days the same. Responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring CCTV, dealing with suspicious activity
- Setting and un-setting intruder alarms and dealing with faults
- Dealing with fire alarm activations and taking appropriate action
- Keyholder duties for opening closing the building
- Managing the access control system, issuing access passes, removing leavers
- Internal & external Patrols
- Completing daily, weekly, monthly routine checks and documenting completion, ensuring actions are taken through to resolution.
- Providing a professional and friendly service
- Be available out of hours for emergencies when required
- Key management
- Greeting visitors / contractors / other members of staff and arranging access as appropriate
- First aid assistance
- Inducting contractors and new staff to site
- Other security related duties
