Job Description

Accordingly, the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition, with NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a higher specialty trainee in General Practice wishing to pursue such an academic career.

You will join a committed and enthusiastic team of clinicians, researchers, and educators, providing an excellent opportunity to develop expertise through a planned programme of specialty training supporting professional, academic, and personal development. The post holder will be located in the Polwarth Building at the Foresterhill site.

A start date of August 2026 is envisaged.

Aberdeen offers a highly collaborative academic and clinical environment, with strong links between primary care, secondary care, population health, health professions education research, and medical education. The Foresterhill campus provides co-located NHS and University facilities, supporting integrated clinical academic training. The Foresterhill campus also includes the Suttie Centre for Teaching and Learning in Healthcare and a new GP and Psychiatry Teaching Centre currently under construction, further strengthening the University’s commitment to clinical and educational excellence.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Clinical scale for Academics below level of Consultant, £50,341- £89,032 per annum with placement according to clinical experience.

Prior to employment, the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate their right to work in the UK.
