Running Wardrobe Technician (Grade 6) (1813)
Do you have an understanding of costume, textiles or clothing construction? Do you have basic hand-sewing and machine-sewing skills? Are you interested in costume care, maintenance and theatre processes? Do you work well within a busy team? Are you a positive, approachable person with enthusiasm to learn new skills and develop?
We are looking for a Wardrobe Technician to support the Running Wardrobe Team to deliver high-quality costume preparation, dressing and back-stage support. This is an entry-level position that provides essential hands-on leaning whilst helping to ensure that rehearsals, technical processes and performances run smoothly, safely and professionally.
Reporting to the Head of Running Wardrobe, key areas of responsibility include (please see the Role Profile for the comprehensive list):
- Assisting with dressing duties during rehearsals and performance
- Helping prepare costumes for rehearsals and performances, including steaming, ironing and organising quick changes.
- Learning and documenting Dressing notes.
- Supporting the safe, tidy and efficient organisation of the Wardrobe spaces.
- Assisting with Get-Ins, understudy rehearsals and Get-Outs.
To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have:
- A basic understanding of costume, textiles or clothing construction.
- Willingness and enthusiasm to learn professional Wardrobe and show-running practices.
- Basic hand-sewing and machine-sewing skills, with an interest in developing them further.
- An interest in costume care, maintenance and theatre processes.
- Good communication, collaboration and organisational skills.
- A positive, approachable manger that supports a healthy working environment.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position (early August until 31 March 2027) based in Stratford-upon-Avon. You will be working an average of 44 hours per week, 6 out of 7days.
