We're looking for an exceptional Retail Area Manager to lead a portfolio of charity shops, driving income growth, developing high-performing teams, and creating outstanding customer and volunteer experiences. This is an exciting opportunity to combine your commercial retail expertise with a genuine passion for making a positive impact.
As Woodgreen’s Retail Area Manager - West you will oversee the performance and day-to-day operation of 12 charity shops across your region as well as our E-Commerce hub and our main Warehouse Donation and Logistic Centre. Working closely with Shop Managers, Assistant Shop Managers and volunteers, you will provide leadership, coaching and support to maximise their sales, profitability and operational excellence.
Playing a key role in identifying opportunities for growth, driving innovation, and ensuring that every shop delivers an exceptional experience for customers, supporters and volunteers you will;
- Drive sales, profit and income growth across your shop portfolio.
- Monitor and analyse performance against budgets, implementing action plans where required.
- Identify innovative opportunities to grow income through retail, ecommerce and community engagement initiatives.
- Lead, coach and develop a team of Shop Managers, Assistant Shop Managers and our E-Commerce specialists.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, engagement and retention of staff and volunteers.
Bringing experience managing multiple retail locations you will be a commercially minded retail professional with proven experience leading multi-site operations and developing successful teams. With strong people leadership, coaching and performance management skills you will have the confidence to make decisions and positively influence others using a proactive, resilient and solutions-focused approach to support your shops to deliver excellent customer experiences.
If you have;
- Proven multi-site retail management experience.
- Experience leading and developing teams.
- Strong commercial and financial awareness.
- Experience working with volunteers.
- Experience within charity retail or the wider charity sector.
- Full UK driving licence.

This is a full-time permanent position working 37.5 hours per week across our western retail estate. The starting salary for this position is £38,534 per annum plus a generous car allowance. This is complemented by;
- 36 days annual leave per year (inclusive of bank holidays) rising by 1 day each year to a maximum of 40 days after five years
