Resident Minister (House for Duty)
Is God calling you to work within our benefice team, offering a particular focus to the mission and ministry of St Bartholemew’s Church, Tong, with its enthusiastic congregation and ministry to visitors?
This post is licensed as a Resident Minister (House for Duty). While no house is provided, a housing allowance is offered in lieu. The role is that of an Associate Minister within the benefice team, sharing fully in the ministry of the whole benefice, while offering particular support and leadership at Tong.
The parish of Tong is part of a varied and busy benefice, working with a Rector based in Shifnal to serve those parishes and that of Sheriffhales in East Shropshire.
Tong is a small village with a unique church building, which seeks to develop its existing ministry and outreach including to many visitors.
The committed congregation worship with a weekly Common Worship Eucharist and additional seasonal services.
In the wider team there are varied traditions, and so the opportunity for leading in other styles and settings is there!
We are looking for a minister who will be approachable, have a sense of humour, be prepared to become involved with the wider community, have a pastoral heart, a caring nature, be a good listener, and be enthusiastic.
This will be a house for duty post with a housing allowance in lieu of a house, including Sunday duties and two days (or equivalent).
Whilst the new minister will have a primary focus at Tong, they will be part of a wider team.
*There is no house available for the post-holder, so a housing allowance (currently £10,910pa) and agreed travel expenses will be paid.
