Do you work with children and young people from diverse backgrounds?
Are you passionate about tackling the racial injustice experienced by children and Young People?
Part time/fixed term - Planning and activity project opportunity …..
Six dioceses in the Church of England are working together in The West Midlands Regional Racial Justice Initiative (WMRRJI).
We are seeking someone either on a part time/fixed term employed basis, on a secondment basis from a diocese or cathedral, or on a freelance basis, who can work with us over the next three months to help us plan a programme of activity against scoping work currently being undertaken, and who will then work with us and the participating dioceses as we begin to deliver against that plan.
Due to the nature of this post, the post-holder will be working within the underrepresented GMH / UKME communities of the six dioceses, and bring an understanding the contexts which individuals of a GMH / UKME background serve in their Christian discipleship, mission and ministry and any barriers which they may face.
We envisage that the work will be an average of 2 days a week, and this can be done flexibly with a mix of home working and some travel to the participating diocesan offices (Coventry, Birmingham, Gloucester, Worcester, Hereford and Lichfield).
If you might be interested in working with us, then the WMRRJI Board and our Children and Young People Steering Group would love to hear from you!
We are keen that someone is able to start with us as soon as possible in/from September 2025 and will keep this advert open until a successful appointment has been made.
Payment: £36k p.a. (pro rata)

Our worship and church life is a mix of traditions and styles, with lay worship-leaders being an important part of our team. We are keen to develop worship attractive to people outside the congregations.

We are looking for someone to continue and develop our ministry and outreach to Children. This is an established post working with an Evangelical CofE church - to take up the continuing challenge of finding ways of passing on the Christian faith both to those whose parents are part of the congregation and to others in the community too.
We are looking for...
- Someone with an enthusiasm to lead, enable and develop our ministries to children, offering bible teaching and social activities to help build a life-long faith in Christ and to encourage personal growth.
- We are open to candidates at a variety of stages in their lives and/or experience of ministry. That means we’d very much consider:
- A person who has done some Christian Children’s ministry as a volunteer and is beginning to explore whether this kind of role might be for them.
- We would also be very interested in a candidate with significant maturity and experience in this area of ministry, who would able to take on responsibility for strategy, co-ordination, and equipping of volunteers.
- Or anyone in between…
Whatever level of experience you bring, the job description (and positioning within our salary range) would be tailored to fit.
- We expect the candidate’s strengths and passions to impact significantly on how the role is carried out, utilising any particular gifts, talents e.g. music, drama, art or crafts, sport, media skills etc.
We are blessed with a number of committed and gifted volunteer leaders and helpers, who have been willing to step up to taking the lead over the last year or so, but would love for someone to bring extra gifts, ideas and time to our ministry with children.
Where are you?
Our children say …”We want a Vicar, so contact us and do the funny interview". This is an exciting opportunity for someone with vision and drive to serve our churches on the edge of the beautiful Staffordshire countryside. Without a doubt we are unique!
- Our theological tradition includes the more formal liturgy of a town centre Church, to the less formal fellowship of a small but well maintained country church, and that of a close knit ex-mining community.
- We seek a new Vicar to help guide us in outreach to our community, in the developing of our gifts and mission and ministry in this diverse community.
- We have a ministry team of ordained and lay ministers working across the two Parishes supported by committed full time office staff, and congregations deeply involved in the life of their respective Churches who are keen to develop opportunities for further outreach and fellowship.
- The Parish of Cannock and Huntington has close ties with the Civic authorities and local schools who use the Church on a regular basis.
- There is a tradition of preaching and discipleship within our Church together with many fellowship activities for those both within and beyond the Church itself.
- The appointed priest will find supportive congregations who will encourage a proper work-life balance, an attractive and well-appointed house, the Parish Church having a modern and well used Hall and facilities.
All applicants should normally have 3 years’ experience in the Church of England or another Anglican church in the British Isles.

Lichfield Cathedral is a warm, lively and historic Cathedral in the heart of England, with a new five year programme of mission and outreach to enable us to bring the good news of the Gospel to the people of Staffordshire, north Shropshire and the Black Country, as well as the many thousands who visit or make pilgrimage each year; and to live out faithfully and joyfully our role as Mother Church to the Diocese.
The Bishop of Lichfield wishes to appoint a Canon Precentor to play a full part in the life and governance of the Cathedral, with particular responsibility for ensuring excellence in liturgy, whilst also being creative and imaginative in enabling those on the edges of faith to be drawn in through our musical, prayerful and worshipping life.
The Bishop welcomes expressions of interest from clergy with at least six years in holy orders, who would thrive in a very hard working yet deeply rewarding, strongly collegiate environment.
