The Extracare Charitable Trust are recruiting for Relief Catering Assistants to join our supportive team, based at our Wixams Retirment Village based in Bedford.
This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced Catering Assistants to join our friendly team at our Wixams location and support the village’s commitment in delivering ExtraCare’s mission of “better lives for older people”. We provide a domiciliary care service all under one roof. No more travelling!
Extracare does not participate in the current “UK Visa Sponsorship” scheme, and we would not be able to facilitate sponsorship.

- Role: Relief Catering Assistant
- Hours: Adhoc / as required
- Salary: £14.12per hour
- Location: Wixams Retirement Village, Bedford Road, Bedford, MK42 6EA
As a Catering Assistant you will be expected to carry out the following tasks:
- Assist in the preparation, cooking and service of a variety of hot and cold meals, buffets, dishes and beverages in the Restaurant/Bistro.
- Ensure food produced is well presented and of a high quality standard.
- Set up dining area as appropriate
- Maintain kitchen and food stores in a clean and tidy condition.
- Receive and check deliveries of stores, chilled and frozen meals etc.
- Record the temperature of chilled and frozen meals on arrival and transfer immediately to cold store.
- Ensure company Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) is followed for all food management.
Person Specification
- Ability to support the catering function and deliver a customer focused service.
- Personable, an effective communicator and a team player
- Passionate about delivering a quality care service
- Flexible with hours.
