About the Role

The Regional Lead Nurse is responsible for providing clinical leadership across Waythrough's London region, ensuring high standards of nursing practice within substance misuse, supported housing, and mental and physical health services. The role supports the Director of Nursing in delivering safe, effective, and person-centred care while ensuring compliance with CQC standards, safeguarding, infection prevention and control, and clinical governance requirements.

Key Duties

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide clinical leadership and support to services across the London region.
  • Lead on infection prevention and control, including audits and service improvement.
  • Support the management of physical and mental health within housing and substance misuse services.
  • Ensure services comply with statutory, regulatory, and professional standards.
  • Develop and implement clinical policies, procedures, and best practice.
  • Deliver clinical supervision, coaching, and professional development for nursing teams.
  • Lead clinical audits, investigations, and service improvement initiatives.
  • Promote health and wellbeing through harm reduction and health promotion interventions.
  • Build strong relationships with commissioners, healthcare partners, and external organisations.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, business development, contract mobilisation, and regional performance reporting.
  • Organise and deliver clinical training across the region.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Current NMC registration as a Registered General Nurse with at least five years' experience.
  • Significant experience within substance misuse, mental health, physical health, or supported housing services.
  • Strong knowledge of infection prevention and control, safeguarding, and clinical governance.
  • Experience leading clinical teams, supervising staff, and implementing service improvements.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience delivering training, mentoring staff, and leading clinical audits.
  • A proactive and innovative approach to improving services and patient outcomes.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, commissioners, and partner organisations.
