Emmaus UK is looking for a new Regional Communications Officer (South) to help Emmaus communities raise their profile and connect with more supporters across the South of England.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Emmaus UK, supporting communities to increase awareness of their work and strengthen connections with supporters through creative and impactful communications.

Our team of Regional Communications Officers works closely with Emmaus communities and groups to provide support across public relations, marketing, social media, websites, digital advertising and content creation.

In this role, you’ll work with up to four Emmaus charities, identifying their communications needs and planning and delivering activities to help them achieve their goals. This includes developing promotional materials, supporting websites and Google Ads accounts, creating engaging content, pitching stories to the media, and helping communities raise awareness locally and nationally.

You’ll also work closely with companions, staff and volunteers to gather stories, photography and video content that showcase the impact of Emmaus and support wider communications activity across the movement.

This is a hybrid role, offering flexibility to work from home or within an Emmaus community. Regular travel to allocated communities will be required, typically at least once a week.

Initially, this will include Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney, Emmaus Colchester and Emmaus Suffolk, so we are particularly interested in candidates based in or around Norwich, Colchester or Ipswich. The role also includes quarterly team meetings, usually held in Birmingham, which may occasionally require an overnight stay.

Emmaus is a unique, secular organisation supporting people affected by homelessness and social exclusion. There are currently 30 Emmaus communities and groups across the UK, stretching from Glasgow to Dover and Norfolk to South Wales.

Each Emmaus community provides a home, tailored support, training and work opportunities to the people they support – known as companions. Collectively, the Emmaus federation supports more than 850 people with experience of homelessness.

Emmaus is different to many homelessness charities because it offers more than just a bed for the night. Emmaus provides longer-term support, stability, opportunities to gain skills and experience, and a strong sense of community to help people rebuild their lives.
