The role
As our Recycling and Collections Advisor in Northern Ireland, you will work as part of a small team, supporting councils across Northern Ireland as they look to respond to the changing policy landscape and work towards the delivery of 70% recycling by 2030.
You will be required to engage with the 11 councils and help develop a programme of DAERA-funded support for council waste and recycling teams, using your knowledge of waste management in Northern Ireland and your ability to build relationships with council officers, DAERA, and partners within the waste and resources sector.
Working with colleagues across the UK as well as framework contractors, you will oversee the delivery of bespoke technical and communications support to individual councils as well as the development and delivery of a broader range of guidance, campaigns, webinars, workshops and training for council staff.
What are we looking for?
We’re looking for someone based in Northern Ireland with:
- Good knowledge of the range of collection, recycling and sorting systems in operation and the relevant policy and legislative context for Northern Ireland.
- A good understanding of council structures and decision-making processes as a result of either working for or with at least one UK council.
- Experience in managing discrete projects, with sound project management skills and an ability to balance a complex mix of priorities.
- A confident presenter and communicator, with experience in writing clear technical reports and delivering presentations to a non-technical audience.
- A willingness to travel throughout Northern Ireland, and on occasion to England.
