Job description

Job Purpose

Working as part of the Adam Smith Business School Professional Services team and reporting to the Recruitment and Conversion Manager, the role-holder will support the day-to-day delivery of the School’s undergraduate student recruitment, conversion and engagement strategy, assisting with the planning, coordination and delivery of a range of undergraduate recruitment activities and initiatives. The post-holder will work closely with colleagues across the College of Social Sciences and External Relations to promote the School, enhance prospective student engagement and support the planning and delivery of projects that showcase undergraduate study opportunities at the Adam Smith Business School. The post will also support undergraduate content creation.

During peak periods, the role-holder may also contribute to postgraduate recruitment and conversion activities to support wider School priorities.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • The post-holder will take operational responsibility for supporting the delivery and continuous development of the School’s undergraduate student recruitment, engagement and conversion strategy, ensuring activities are effectively planned, coordinated and evaluated. The role will also contribute to postgraduate recruitment and conversion activity during peak periods, in line with School priorities.

  • Lead the planning, coordination and tracking of the School’s annual undergraduate conversion and engagement activities, ensuring alignment with University-wide recruitment plans through close collaboration with External Relations, School teams and the College of Social Sciences (Recruitment & Conversion).

  • Support the Business Development Manager with Undergraduate in curriculum activities, leading where possible. These will support recruitment priorities.

  • Manage prospective student enquiries and oversee targeted communication workflows, ensuring timely, accurate and customer-focused responses and supporting the delivery of segmented email campaigns.

  • Take ownership of the School’s student recruitment inboxes and associated processes, implementing improvements to ensure efficient enquiry handling and a high-quality user experience.

  • Maintain, update and optimise undergraduate recruitment and engagement web pages, using analytics and user insight to improve content effectiveness and accessibility.

  • Work with the Marketing Officer to develop and deliver digital marketing assets and campaign content, contributing ideas and recommendations to maximise reach, engagement and conversion.

  • Produce market research and competitor analysis reports for undergraduate programmes to inform recruitment planning, portfolio development and evidence-based decision-making.

  • Manage the accuracy and presentation of the School’s programme listings and profiles across external platforms and directories, ensuring consistency with brand and advertising priorities.

  • Lead the creation and coordination of undergraduate-focused promotional materials, including flyers, brochures and digital content, and support postgraduate materials as required.

  • Plan and deliver undergraduate recruitment and engagement events, including open days, offer-holder activity and campus visits, coordinating logistics, stakeholders and resources to ensure successful delivery.

  • Manage University partnerships, including the marketing support for potential students.

  • Coordinate online engagement initiatives such as webinars, web chats and ambassador schemes, recruiting and supporting student and alumni volunteers to enhance the prospective student experience.

  • Support the development of recruitment-related content, including video projects, contributing to concept development, briefing, storyboarding and liaison with production teams.

  • Monitor, analyse and report on the effectiveness of recruitment, engagement and conversion activity, providing regular performance insights and recommendations to stakeholders, ensuring all data handling remains GDPR compliant. Manage data on internal platforms like mycampus and Power BI.

  • Undertake any other reasonable duties that the Line manager may request.

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Knowledge/Qualifications

Essential

A1 Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 8 (Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4, Higher National Diploma) or equivalent, and/or experience of personal development in a similar role.

A2 Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office.

A3 Knowledge and understanding of Marketing (through experience)

Desirable

B1 Knowledge or experience of Student Recruitment cycles (undergraduate or postgraduate)

B2 Client management skills (external stakeholders)

C1 Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and build effective working relationships with academic colleagues, professional services staff, students and external partners.

C2 Ability to work independently, use initiative and exercise sound judgement to identify improvements to processes and ways of working.

C3 Good understanding of data protection and GDPR principles and experience handling sensitive information appropriately.

C4 Flexibility to contribute across both undergraduate and postgraduate recruitment activities and to support events and activities outside normal working hours where required.

C5 Excellent organisational and time management skills and an ability to manage a busy workload in a timely manner and to an excellent standard.

C6 Able to work proactively and problem-solve, using initiative and with limited supervision.

C7 Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) to ensure effective reporting, administration support and customer service

C8 Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with external partners and academic colleagues.

C9 Ability to cultivate, excellent relationships, influencing colleagues where required.

C10 Highly effective use of a range of IT systems combined with capacity and willingness to learn and implement new systems.

C11 Demonstrable project management skills.

C12 Able to maintain a positive, enthusiastic attitude when dealing with challenges and change.

E1 Experience of personal development in a similar role (marketing/engagement/conversion focused)

E2 Experience of working with senior management and senior stakeholders

F1 Understanding of the use of social media in a professional context

F2 Project management experience

Terms and Conditions

Salary will be Grade 6, £33,951 - £37,694 per annum.

This post is full time and fixed term for up to 18 months from start date
