About the role
As a Receptionist you will be, for many, the first point of contact with Kingswood. Your role is to represent the School in a professional and courteous manner both over the telephone and in person while operating a smooth and professional ‘front of house’. You will also responsively assist the operation of the School Office; assisting with tasks delegated by members of the core School Office.

Key responsibilities
• Greeting visitors arriving at the School Reception
• Ensuring visitors are correctly badged, informing the appropriate staff their visitor has arrived
• Answering the main switchboard telephone, dealing with general queries and directing calls
Ensuring and appropriately recording knowledge of staff movements in and out of the school
Assisting the School Office and key departments with administrative work as required
• Ensuring the Reception area is kept tidy
Conducting handover with the morning receptionist, ensuring messages and planned visits are actioned appropriately
• You will monitor and manage accordingly the main school email inbox
Performing other such duties as may reasonably be requested by the Headmaster’s Executive Assistant or the Head of Academic Services
You will be expected to:
• Conduct yourself with professionalism, tact and diplomacy at all times as a representative of Kingswood
Observe health and safety procedures and work safely at all times
To comply with all school policies and procedures including reporting any concerns to the appropriate person in relation to those covering child protection, health, safety, welfare, security, confidentiality and data protection.
No job description can fully cover all aspects of the role and consequently the responsibilities are likely to evolve and change over time.
Skills, qualifications and experience
You will have excellent communication skills and a personable, approachable manner. You will be accustomed to re-prioritising and maintaining composure when demands are placed on you. You will understand the need for discretion and professionalism. You should have a good level of competency with standard IT packages (including Office). Ideally experience in a similar role or previous experience in a school/education environment would further strengthen your suitability for the role.
Child protection
It is your responsibility to help promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons for whom you are responsible, or with whom you come into contact, and to adhere to and ensure compliance with the School’s Child Protection Policy Statement at all times. If, in the course of carrying out the duties of the post, you become aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the school, you must report any concerns to the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead. Protecting children from the risk of radicalisation is part of the School’s safeguarding duties (under the Prevent Duty).

Terms and conditions
Working hours are 25 hours per week, 12:30pm to 17:30pm, Monday to Friday, term-time only (34 weeks per year).
Paid holiday entitlement is pro-rata to 6.6 weeks per annum, based on your work pattern. Please note that no holiday may be taken during term time.
The actual salary for this part-time, part year role will be in the region of £14,526 per annum (£28,797 full time equivalent), depending on qualifications, skills and experience.
