BFI is seeking a Programmer for Learning (Schools Lead)

Fixed Term Contract: 41 hours until until 24 March 2027

BFI is looking for a Programmer for Learning (Schools Lead) to work on the development and delivery of a year-round programme of film education activity for schools, teachers and students, delivered online, at BFI Southbank and with partner organisations across the UK. The Programmer for Learning will also lead and deliver one-third of the schools programme, developing high-quality, inclusive learning experiences for students and teachers, while building partnerships and collaborating across the organisation to support the planning, delivery and growth of BFI education activity.

What you’ll do

• Contribute to the strategic planning and development of the schools programme, working closely with the Senior Programmer for Learning and Outreach to shape a diverse, inclusive and curriculum-relevant offer for teachers and students across all Key Stages and subjects.
• Lead the development of content, learning outcomes and contributor plans for the schools programme creating engaging and high-quality learning experiences that support curriculum objectives and audience needs, and take responsibility for on the day delivery for up to 1/3 of the programme across the academic year.
• Identify, recruit and brief guest speakers, lecturers and contributors for activity within their area of responsibility, working with the Producer for Learning Events to ensure contractual, administrative and logistical arrangements are completed.
• Develop learning activity that incorporates BFI National Archive collections where possible and contribute to creating opportunities for schools and teachers to engage with BFI festivals and major events, including the London Film Festival and Flare.

What you’ll bring

• Experience in devising, delivering, and coordinating learning activity in an arts or cultural context.
• Strong knowledge of film and television culture and critical approaches to their study.
• Experience delivering education events both online and in arts venues, including logistics, scheduling, and stakeholder coordination.
• Understanding of evaluation methods to assess reach, engagement, and programme impact.
• Experience working with multiple partners and stakeholders simultaneously.
