Job overview
We are seeking a primary teacher with a passion to inspire young minds. The role will suit someone who thrives on challenge, enjoys working collaboratively, and sees Christian education as a mission and view teaching as a vocation as much as a profession.
This is a full-time teaching position. Alongside delivering high-quality Christian education, you will have opportunities to contribute to pastoral care and supporting both the academic progress and personal development of pupils. You will work closely with colleagues and play an active role in the wider life of the school. A willingness to lead a subject would also be beneficial.
Hyland House School is proud to be a values driven school reflecting our commitment to developing resilient, creative and responsible learners. We believe in teaching children not just what to learn, but how to learn. The successful candidate will share and actively promote these values.
We are looking for someone with a passion for Christian Education, strong interpersonal skills, a professional approach, a warm and approachable manner, and a willingness to contribute fully to school life. This role involves working closely with children and constitutes ‘regulated activity’.
The salary will be competitive and dependent on experience. The South England Conference of SDA who is our proprietor, will offer you the opportunity to be part of its pension scheme.
The closing date for completed applications is 9:00 am on Thursday 21st May 2026, although early applications are encouraged and may be interviewed prior to the interview date of 4th June 2026. Shortlisted candidates can expect to have an interview and to teach an observed lesson.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the DBS. All staff have the responsibility for promoting the safeguarding and welfare of children. All school staff should be aware of the school’s Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy and work in accordance with this document at all times.
The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974), and the school is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are ‘spent’ unless they are ‘protected’ under the DBS filtering rules) to assess their suitability to work with children. Hyland House is an equal-opportunity employer that is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace. As we continue to grow, we know that we must have the most talented employees with diverse backgrounds, cultures, perspectives, and experiences to support our children and young people.
