Priest in Charge - House for Duty - Westfield
Priest in Charge - House for Duty - Westfield
Is God calling you to join our exciting growth story?
St Mary’s, Westfield, in the newly formed Deanery of Workington, has undergone an astonishing renaissance in the last three years. From a near-death experience we now have a busy parish centre and hall, with social groups and new worshipping communities with 80 plus regularly making this their home and a Sunday congregation that has grown from 6 to 25-35. This is a church that has reached a whole community with the welcome of Christ and is bringing transformation.
This House for Duty role will work alongside a new appointment for a part-time lay Community Hub Mission Enabler. Working collaboratively together, we hope to continue the remarkable growth which, by God’s grace, we have seen over the past three years.
The parish also has close links with the neighbouring benefice of Harrington & Distington and close links with the ecumenical Mission Community and Deanery of Workington.
This is a House for Duty position of with 2 days a week plus Sunday duties.
Ideally, we are seeking a candidate who is also interested in applying for the Church Planting Lead post in Carlisle Diocese – currently advertised. Although not formally combined, we believe these two posts will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity for sustaining priestly and planting ministry alongside a part time specialist diocesan role.
Closing date for Applications: 9.00am, Wednesday 20th May 2026
Interviews: Wednesday 10th June with an opportunity to visit informally the day before.
