St Edmund's College Prep School is seeking a friendly, highly organised and professional

As the first point of contact for pupils, parents and visitors, you will play a vital role in the smooth day-to-day running of the Prep School, providing an efficient and professional administrative and secretarial service while maintaining excellent relationships with families and colleagues.

  • Provide a warm and professional reception for pupils, parents and visitors.
  • Manage telephone and email enquiries and provide comprehensive administrative support to the Headmaster and Prep School staff.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, newsletters and other school documentation.
  • Maintain accurate electronic and paper records.
  • Coordinate meetings and appointments, including with parents and external professionals.
  • Support Prep School admissions administration and occasionally assist with tours for prospective families.
  • Liaise with College departments including catering, transport, grounds and finance.
  • Administer Nursery Grant Funding processes.
  • Assist with pupil welfare, visitor management and security procedures.
  • Support safeguarding procedures and contribute to maintaining a safe environment for all pupils.

  • An excellent administrator with outstanding organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A confident communicator with a warm, approachable manner.
  • Able to manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable working with school management systems.
  • Calm, professional and able to always maintain confidentiality.
  • Experienced in an administrative or school office environment (desirable).

Whilst not in a teaching role, as a Prep School Secretary you will be working on a regular basis in a school in a role which gives opportunity for contact with children. As such, you will be in regulated activity and an enhanced DBS check (which includes children’s barred list information) will be required in advance of appointment.

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. As with all College staff members, you will therefore be responsible for providing a safe environment in which children can learn.
