A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I’m a 49-year-old man living in the Llanharry area of Pontyclun, and I’m very close to my two sons. I share my home with my dog—he’s large but very friendly. I’d describe myself as easy-going and straightforward, with a dry sense of humour. I enjoy a bit of banter, can be quick with a one-liner, and like spending time with others.

I have a neck / spinal injury that affects my mobility and range of movement, and some days can be more challenging than others when it comes to getting up to get going. Despite this, I stay positive and aim to maintain as much independence as possible.

I’m looking for someone to support me with day-to-day tasks, including help around the home, meal preparation, personal care, getting out for social activities and at times attending medical appointments with myself. This would also include assistance with rehabilitation sessions at the Village Hotel pool, as the water helps improve my strength and manage my condition. Occasionally, some travel may also be required.

When I was younger, I was passionate about rugby and played regularly. I’m still involved in the rugby community and keep in touch with friends from that time. After finishing playing, I worked at a local college before moving on to roles as a health and safety officer on several film productions.

I would like someone who is able to take and support me to the village hotel in the pool as this is helpful to build and strengthen my muscles to help with my condition.

In my early years I played rugby, which was my love, I am still part of the rugby scene I keep in touch regularly with the boys, were like a family.

After hanging my boots up I worked in the local college and then went on to become a health and safety officers on the set of a few films.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

 

To support and assist me at home and out in the community.

 

HOURS OF WORK

 

12 hours a week, mainly weekdays with flexibility.

RATES OF PAY

 

£15.75 per hour

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

  • Support in the pool at the village hotel.
  • Socialising to build up my confidence.
  • Support with hospital appointments.
  • Potting in the garden and around the house.
  • Going out for a coffee.
  • Getting out and about in the community.
  • Some personal care washing and dressing once confidence is built up.
  • Attend social events
  • Travel

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

  • Someone who is easy going
  • A person with a good sense of humour
  • Someone who is a driver and can drive my van.
  • A reliable and punctual person.
  • Non- smokers required as smoking affects my chest.
  • Someone who is comfortable in the pool

ABOUT THE JOB

This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four weeks on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
