Oldham Bethel Church
Oldham Bethel Church is in the Glodwick area of Oldham. It is on the edge of the Town Centre. Glodwick is 90% South Asian Muslim. Oldham Bethel Church is the only church in the area.
The church currently has c.40 members and is led by a plurality of elders. It is multicultural in makeup, with people from Britain, Europe, the Americas, Africa and the Middle East, particularly Iran.
The church belongs to FIEC, North West Gospel Partnership & Medhurst Ministries. It is theologically reformed and baptistic in practice.
Much of the funding for the church comes from external sources and the pastor would be expected to take a lead role in fund raising.
The pastor will do most, but not all, the preaching as we have other men who preach.
The pastor will chair the weekly elders' meetings.
The pastor will operate in a plural eldership.
Required Skills
1. Love God and his people and meet the New Testament requirements for an elder.
2. Experience in ministry, either as a pastor or another role in the local church.
3. Ability to preach and teach in a mixed environment of educational and language skills.
4. Ability to draw alongside people and help them to think and live biblically.
5. A heart for evangelism in a town of mixed cultures and deprivation.
