Oxfam is looking for Operations & Finance Coordinator 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Financial Planning, Budgeting & Expenditure Oversight (25%)
  • Monitor expenditure against approved budgets, forecasts, and strategic priorities.
  1. Financial Controls, Compliance & Risk Management (20%)

The role strengthens financial integrity and compliance systems across all operational activities.

  • Maintain and strengthen internal control systems to safeguard resources and reduce fiduciary risk.
  • Monitor adherence to financial management standards across programmes and partners
  1. Grants Financial Management & Restricted Funding Coordination (15%)
  • Collaborate closely with the Grant Accountant to track restricted funding budgets and expenditure.
  • Support financial monitoring and compliance for grants and donor-funded projects.
  • Ensure strong alignment between financial reporting, programme reporting, and budget performance
  1. Operational Oversight, Systems Strengthening & Cross-Functional Coordination (15%)
  • Ensure operational procedures and controls are consistently applied.
  • Support continuous improvement of operational systems and workflows.
  1. Financial Reporting, Analysis & Decision Support (10%)
  • Provide actionable financial insights to programme, operational, and leadership teams.
  1. Partner Financial Management, Capacity Strengthening & Accountability (10%)

The role supports strong financial stewardship within partner-led programming.

  • Review partner budgets, expenditure reports, and financial systems.
  • Strengthen partner capacity in Financial management, Compliance, Budgeting, and Reporting
  • Support partners to meet donor and organisational financial requirements
  1. Audit Support, Compliance Assurance & Continuous Improvement (5%)

The role strengthens audit readiness and institutional accountability.

  • Facilitate internal and external audit processes.
  • Support preparation of audit documentation and compliance evidence.
  • Coordinate implementation of audit recommendations

An ideal candidate for the role will also be / have: 

Essential

  • Master’sdegree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • A high level of self-awareness, personal energy, stamina and flexibility.
  • Proven experience as a team worker and demonstrably cooperative with members of other teams

Desirable

  • Portuguese language capability
  • Multi-country programme experience
  • Partner financial oversight experience
  • Institutional donor systems knowledge
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly, at times at short notice, locally and regionally.
  • Experience in multi-country or donor-funded programmes and working with partners.
