Description
Volunteer Night Sitter
Location: Saint Michaels Hospice, Harrogate and The Lambert, Thirsk
Hours: As required
Closing date: ongoing
We are looking for volunteers that can provide emotional comfort and reassurance in a calm, respectful manner. Occasionally our patients on our Inpatient Unit may have altered behaviours or dementia staying with us. They can most often be awake at night and asleep for long periods during the day. Are you able to support a patient with companionship through conversation, reading, listening, or simply being present during the night
You will be able to assist with light activities such as playing music or supporting hobbies the patient enjoys.
You will maintain patient dignity, privacy, and independence at all times.
You will be able to offer and serve snacks and drinks.
You will be supported collaboratively with nurses, healthcare assistants, and other volunteers.

· If you are successful at interview, we will ask you to complete training via our online system training platform.
· We will complete a DBS check and ask you to provide some information before you begin volunteering.
· Once these steps are completed we will agree your start date.
