Penshurst Choral Society is seeking to appoint a new Musical Director.
We are looking for a dynamic director of music with previous experience of conducting choirs, excellent communication skills, patience, a sense of humour and an interest in extending and developing our repertoire to lead us from September 2026; someone who can inspire and engage the choir with their passion for choral singing, along with a clear directing style and a sense of fun.
We are a keen, un-auditioned choir, 50+ strong. We sing a wide repertoire from early music to modern. We perform three concerts a year at Christmas, March and in June. We meet for rehearsals in Tunbridge Wells every Tuesday evening 8 to 9.45 during September to mid-June with breaks for Christmas and Easter.
We pay an honorarium per rehearsal and a fee for conducting concerts. We would expect candidates to be prepared to work alongside the committee in determining programmes, concert dates and so forth.
