MEDIC Student Ambassador [Seren Summer School]
70 Year 12 Seren learners will attend Cardiff University’s School of Medicine and Dentistry Residential Summer School from Wednesday 1st July to Friday 3rd July 2026.
We are looking for 10 current medical students and 3 current dental students who are passionate about helping others achieve their potential and who want to share their enthusiasm for studying Medicine/Dentistry. You will support the Summer School in a number of ways:
- You will stay in Talybont North flats for the two nights and share a flat with Seren learners.
- You will be a team leader for a small group of learners (approx. 5).
- You will attend Clinical Skills, Communication Skills, Emergency Medicine/Virtual Reality Immersive room, work experience sessions, clinics, specially designed workshops in the Cochrane Building/Dental School and help where needed by the facilitators.
- You will assist a small group with creating a short ‘empathy video’.
- You will be paid through Jobshop - You must be registered and Right to Work checked with Jobshop.
Student Ambassador Specification:
- Enthusiastic and proactive
- Well organised and able to use your own initiative
- Good at working in teams
- A positive role model at all times
All the Seren learners who will be attending are extremely interested in applying to Medicine or Dentistry in the near future. This Summer School has been designed to provide them with workshop opportunities and help develop their communication, teamwork and empathy skills alongside building their confidence.
You will need to be available for the whole period (from 2pm on Wednesday 1st July to 2.30pm on Friday 3rd July). Accommodation and meals are included. * The Seren Academy invites the brightest and most academically able learners in Year 12 across Wales to join the programme. It offers interactive activities and unique study experiences to support ongoing learning, and expert guidance to help learners make informed decisions as they prepare to apply to leading universities.
Rate of pay £13.45 per hour.
Shifts:
Wednesday 1st July 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm (8.5 hrs)
Thursday 2nd July 09:00 am - 10:30 pm (13.5 hrs)
Friday 3rd July 09:00 am - 14:30 pm (5.5 hrs)
Total: 27.5 hours.
