Role Summary

Are you creative, organised, and passionate about making a difference? We are looking for a Marketing Volunteer to support our busy Marketing and Communications team for one day per week. This varied role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across marketing, communications, events, and content creation while helping to raise awareness of the vital work of the Hospice. No two days will be the same, with opportunities to support campaigns, create engaging content, and assist with promotional materials.

Duties and Responsibilities

Supporting the preparation and packing of campaign materials, including Handmade Heroes kits.
Capturing photographs and video content across the Hospice, including wellbeing sessions, events, and other activities for use across our marketing channels.
Visiting our charity shops and education venues to capture engaging content for social media and promotional campaigns (driving licence desirable).
Assisting with the creation of social media content.
Updating marketing documents and resources using Canva, such as volunteer handbooks and promotional materials.
Printing, trimming, and preparing posters and other marketing materials.
Helping to create display boards and promotional materials for events.
Assisting with the production of the Hospice magazine/newsletter, The Spectator.
Supporting the printing and distribution of Hospice leaflets, including monitoring stock levels and helping to maintain accurate, up-to-date literature.

Personal Responsibilities

To maintain confidentiality at all times.
To manage appropriate boundaries in the role whilst showing empathy.
To act within the scope of your volunteering role at all times.
To seek help and support when needed.
To undertake training as agreed in relevant areas to support your development within the role.
To be aware of safeguarding responsibilities for our vulnerable adults.
To read, understand and comply with all Hospice policies and procedures, applying the principles appropriate to the role.
To be aware of the legal responsibility placed on all volunteers by the statutory fire, health and safety regulations – know what to do should an emergency situation occur.
To promote understanding and support of the values and philosophies of the Hospice.
To share comments or concerns in a timely way to promote early resolution.
To inform Jessica Sowerby or a member of the Volunteer Management Team if you are unavailable to carry out your shift – giving as much notice as possible.

Training and Development:

All new Volunteers will have an induction period and will be made aware of relevant policies and procedures.

Your Skills

We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience:

Creative with an eye for detail.
Organised and able to manage a variety of tasks.
Confident using Microsoft Office and willing to learn Canva (or has previous Canva experience).
Comfortable taking photographs and capturing content on a smartphone or camera.
A good communicator who enjoys working as part of a team.
Reliable, enthusiastic, and keen to support the work of the Hospice.
A full UK driving licence would be beneficial but is not essential.
