About Us:

Mary Hare educates profoundly deaf children at its residential school in Berkshire, and we pride ourselves on our pupils’ achievements at GCSE, A Level as well as B Tech and Vocational Courses. We offer the opportunity to teach highly motivated children, in small classes, where you can make a real difference at this national centre of excellence for deaf education. No knowledge of sign language is required, as we follow an auditory/oral philosophy.

The school offers a holistic approach to care, and this involves carrying schoolwork into out-of-school life. This involves communication with all professionals that work within both the senior and primary schools. These can be teachers, classroom assistants, audiologists, nurses, speech therapists and specialists from cochlear implant teams, social workers etc. but most importantly care staff will have a good communication link with parents, especially those of their key children.

The Role:​

The Marketing Manager (Maternity Cover) is responsible for maintaining the brand and promotion of Mary Hare across Mary Hare School, Mary Hare Foundation, Professional Courses, Burwood and Mary Hare Hearing Services (Hearing Centre and Hearing Aid Repair Shop)​

A large part of this role will be to promote Mary Hare School to families of deaf children and young deaf people. The marketing Manager is responsible for generating enquiries and visits by families to both Mary Hare Primary School and Mary Hare Secondary School. ​

In addition the role must work with other areas of Mary Hare to promote them to their target audiences, including Courses , the Mary Hare Foundation and Mary Hare Hearing Services.​

The postholder is responsible for the Mary Hare brand and the communications strategy for all external audiences.​

Main Duties and Responsibilities:​

  • To oversee, lead and maintain the brand values, messaging and reputation of Mary Hare in all activities including: Mary Hare School, Mary Hare Foundation, Professional Courses, and Mary Hare Hearing Services.
  • To continue and maintain progress on the current marketing strategy that has been set out.
  • To promote Mary Hare School to increase family visits, assessment bookings and events attendance with the aim of increasing pupil numbers.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure that marketing is delivered to meet the needs of the organisation and to a high standard.
  • Manage budgets efficiently.
  • Report marketing updates to the Board of Governors.

Mary Hare School:​

    • To maintain progress on the current marketing strategy that has been set out.
    • ​Work closely with the Admissions Manager on marketing campaigns.
    • Create advertising campaigns (digital and print).
    • Maintain and seek new relationships with other organisations working with families of deaf children.
    • ​Organise attendance and publicity of Open Days to promote the school.
    • ​Organise other internal events, online and on site, to promote the school to families of deaf children
    • ​Oversee the production of all promotional material
    • Coordinate a plan for email campaigns and manage audiences and mailing lists
    • Oversee content on the school website and social media
    • Produce Soundwave and Hare Mail with the Marketing Assistant.
    • Organise and liaise with staff so that internal literature for parents and pupils is up to date and to branding standard
    • ​Manage press and media relations for all events, visitors to the school and to maximise PR opportunities wherever possible

Courses & Professionals:

  • Create and manage events aimed at professionals working in deaf education (with the primary aim of promoting the school)
  • ​Work closely with the Head of Professional Courses to promote the courses offered by Mary Hare to professionals
  • ​Working with colleagues in the Professional Courses and other businesses to maximise PR opportunities to promote the school.
  • ​Oversee the production of all promotional material.​

Mary Hare Foundation:​

    • Support the fundraising events of the Mary Hare Foundation where there is a PR aspect for the school (eg Charity Week)
    • ​Support the work of the Mary Hare Foundation through press, media, and the website.​
    • Oversee the production of all promotional material.

Mary Hare Hearing Services​

    • Tomaintain progress on the current marketing strategy that has been set out.
    • ​Working closely with the Business Managers of Mary Hare Hearing Centre and the Hearing Aid Repair Shop to create promotional literature that meet the branding standards with other Mary Hare affiliations.
    • Oversee digital and print advertising.
    • ​Oversee the website, social media channels and email campaigns.​
    • Organise events to promote the expertise of its services.

Other activities and responsibilities​

    • Organise and seek out new opportunities for Mary Hare to attend external events
    • ​Line manage the Marketing Assistant and support their professional development
    • ​To have input and oversee digital softwares and platforms, including: Mailchimp, Beacon, Hootesuite, Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud.​
    • Coordinate professional photography and filming for the purposes of promoting Mary Hare.​
