Marketing & Communications Manager

Join a values-led organisation making a real difference

At Avalon, we believe people with learning disabilities, autistic people, and individuals with complex needs should live their best lives – connected to their communities, relationships, and opportunities.

We are looking for a creative, strategic, and people-focused Marketing Manager to help us tell that story.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape and lead Avalon’s marketing and communications approach during a period of growth, transformation, and innovation across our services.

You’ll work closely with senior leaders across the organisation to strengthen Avalon’s brand, improve colleague engagement, support recruitment campaigns, raise our profile with commissioners and partners, and celebrate the incredible people who make Avalon what it is.

About the Role

This is a hands-on and strategic role where no two days are the same.

You’ll lead on:

  • Social media strategy and content creation
  • Brand development and storytelling
  • Recruitment and employer branding campaigns
  • Internal communications and colleague engagement
  • Website development and digital presence
  • PR, media and stakeholder engagement
  • Campaigns linked to strategic growth and innovation
  • Supporting communications around major projects including digital transformation

You will also play a key role in shaping and developing Avalon’s website – ensuring it remains engaging, accessible, modern, and reflective of Avalon’s values and strategic ambitions. This includes working with external developers and internal teams to improve user experience, develop new content, support recruitment campaigns, and strengthen Avalon’s overall digital presence.

We’re looking for someone who can combine creativity with strategy – someone who understands how powerful authentic storytelling can be in social care.

About You

You’ll be:

  • A strong communicator and natural storyteller
  • Experienced in marketing, communications, PR or digital engagement
  • Creative, proactive, and highly organised
  • Confident managing multiple campaigns and priorities
  • Passionate about values-led communications
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
  • Someone who understands the importance of tone, reputation, and authenticity

Experience within social care, health, charity, or public sector environments would be beneficial, but more importantly we’re looking for someone who shares our values and wants to help make a difference.

Why Join Avalon?

At Avalon, people matter.

We are proud of our culture, our values, and the relationships we build with the people we support, families, colleagues, and communities.

You’ll join a supportive and ambitious organisation where your ideas, creativity, and leadership will genuinely shape the future of the business.

Our Values

  • We are kind and respectful to everyone
  • We are honest and trustworthy
  • We are always learning and developing
  • We are inclusive; everyone has a voice
  • We work in partnership with our communities
