Marketing and Digital Communications Manager (Maternity Cover)

Welcome to Pownall Hall School

Step through our gates and you will feel it straight away – this is no ordinary prep school. Pownall Hall is a place where tradition meets adventure; where beautiful, historic walls echo with laughter and the sound of muddy boots racing across the fields.

We are a community of pupils, staff and families, all working together to give children a school experience that is rich, happy and memorable. Our children achieve excellent academic results, but just as importantly, they grow in confidence, character and independence during their time with us.

The Role: Marketing and Digital Communications Manager

We are seeking an experienced Marketing and Digital Communications Manager to join Pownall Hall School on a 12-month maternity cover contract.

This is a busy, creative and fast-moving role, responsible for maintaining the day-to-day marketing and communications of a thriving independent school. The successful candidate will play a key part in sharing school life with current and prospective families, producing high-quality digital and printed materials, and ensuring Pownall’s warm, professional and distinctive voice continues across all channels.

This role will suit someone who can create polished visual content, write confidently, manage social media well and remain calm when priorities change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Marketing Pownall Hall School, Holiday Club and school events
  • Maintaining a strong and consistent presence across social media, particularly Instagram and Facebook
  • Capturing school life through photography and videography
  • Creating high-quality visual marketing materials, including posters, invitations, certificates, information booklets and social media graphics
  • Preparing and sharing the weekly school newsletter
  • Updating the school website with relevant news, information and content
  • Supporting internal and external communications for parents, staff, alumni and prospective families
  • Building and nurturing the Pownall alumni community through targeted communications
  • Working with external agencies where required
  • Supporting the busy Admissions desk and assisting with admissions-related communications and events
  • Responding flexibly to the needs of the school and prioritising tasks to meet deadlines

This is a role with real variety. Some days will be carefully planned, others will change quickly. The right person will be able to adapt, keep standards high and enjoy being close to the daily life of the school.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for someone with strong experience in marketing, social media and visual content creation. Experience in education marketing would be an advantage, and the ability to produce high-quality work in a busy environment is essential.

You will need:

  • Strong photography and videography skills
  • Excellent knowledge of social media, particularly Instagram and Facebook
  • Confidence using Canva to create polished, on-brand materials
  • Strong written communication skills and excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to create content that feels warm, professional, non-salesy and appropriate for an independent school
  • Confidence working with a wide range of staff across the school
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and manage a changing workload
  • A flexible approach, including a willingness to work outside core hours at times to attend school events
  • A genuine team ethic and a practical, helpful approach

We are looking for someone who takes pride in high standards, notices the detail and understands that school marketing is at its best when it feels real, warm and beautifully presented.
