Lymphoedema Assistant Practitioner (Development Role)

Location: The Prince of Wales Hospice, WF8 4BG

Salary: £25,300 - £29,778 (dependent on experience)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

We are looking for a caring, motivated and enthusiastic Lymphoedema Assistant Practitioner to join our specialist Lymphoedema Service.

At The Prince of Wales Hospice, we provide specialist palliative care in a supportive and respectful environment. Our 14-bed inpatient unit, located just minutes from Junction 32 of the M62 in Pontefract, also offers outpatient and community services, including our successful Lymphoedema clinic.

About the Role

This is a fantastic development opportunity for an experienced Health Care Assistant or someone already qualified and working as a Nursing Associate who is looking to develop their knowledge and skills within the specialist field of Lymphoedema management.

In this role, you will support patients living with lymphoedema by delivering high-quality, compassionate care – both independently and alongside our experienced Lymphoedema team.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering treatment including skin care, compression therapy, lymphatic drainage, bandaging, pneumatic compression and kinesio-taping.
  • Conducting unsupervised clinics for stable patients and supporting review clinics.
  • Educating patients and carers on self-care and lifestyle practices, with a focus on prevention and long-term wellbeing.
  • Accurately assessing and monitoring treatment outcomes.
  • Liaising with internal and external services to ensure holistic patient support.
  • Participating in wellbeing groups and initiatives.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Level 2/3 NVQ or BTEC in a care related subject or equivalent.
  • Willingness to work towards Diploma in Lymphoedema Management.
  • Experience working independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Good patient communication, including with those with barriers to understanding.
  • Understanding of safe practice environments and professional boundaries.
  • Transferrable skills to support our Wellbeing team when deemed appropriate.
  • A valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle to attend external clinics and community groups.
