The role:

Coaching: Delivering a collective coaching philosophy through periodised and athlete-centred training programmes.

Data Analysis: Capture, interpret and communicate telemetry data to our athletes and crews to maximise performance.

Competition Logistics: Support with competition entries, race logistics, and transportation/accommodation for athletes.

Recruitment: Help support with active recruitment of the next cohort of talented student-athletes into Oxford Brookes to ensure the winning legacy continues.

Sport Support: Help implement critical sports science practices by working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Student Welfare: Work with student-athletes and support staff to ensure students fulfill their academic requirements, providing pastoral support where appropriate and helping to manage expectations and needs across the programme.

Compliance: Help carry out key safety requirements and processes for both institutional and national governing body compliance.

Engagement: Work closely with British Rowing, TASS and wider networks to deliver on funding-based criteria, and to create the most supportive environment possible for our student-athletes.

The essential skills you need: Hold a British Rowing Senior Club Coach Level 3 qualification, or equivalent significant experience working in high performance rowing. Demonstrated ability to develop athletes to national or international standards. Experience of providing pastoral care and support for athletes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and being able to work collaboratively as part of a wider, multi-faceted team. Proven ability to oversee multiple crews and priorities in an organised and efficient manner, and coordinate logistical operations around training and competition. High level performance analysis skills and experience of using Peach telemetry systems.

The desirable skills you need: Hold a RYA Level 2 Powerboat Handling certificate Hold a UKAD Coach Clean certificate Experience of towing trailers and fleet. Experience in university club settings with a High Performance Academy. Experience of recruiting athletes to programmes.
